Product Brands are a categorization feature that helps you organize your products for enhanced reporting and analysis. Unlike Product Groups and Product Sub Groups, Product Brands operate independently, meaning products can have a Brand assigned without needing to belong to any group structure. This flexibility allows you to create an additional layer of product organization that suits your specific business needs.

Manage Product Brands

Product Brands provide a powerful way to organize your products beyond traditional grouping methods, offering the flexibility to create meaningful categories that align with your business structure and reporting needs. Establish a consistent naming strategy for your brands to maintain organization as your product catalogue grows.

Add a Product Brand

To create a new Product Brand:

  1. From the main menu, go to Settings > System > Product Brands.

  2. Click Add Product Brand.

  3. In the "Product Brand Name" field, enter a unique name for the brand.

  4. Click Add.

The new Product Brand will be added and will be available to select in product records.

Alternatively, new Product Brands can be created when they are included during the import of a Products CSV template. Any Product Brand in the Products template that does not match an existing Product Brand's name will be added.

πŸ€“ Tip: Avoid using commas in Product Brand names to prevent import and export errors.

Edit a Product Brand

Product Brands can be edited as your business needs change:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Product Brands.

  2. Click on the Product Brand's row.

  3. Edit the Product Brand Name as required.

  4. Click away from the Product Brand.

When you edit a Product Brand's name, the change applies retroactively to all products and Sales Orders that previously used that type. This ensures consistency across your historical data.

Delete a Product Brand

If a Product Brand has not been used and is no longer needed, it can be deleted. Before deletion, ensure the Product Brand isn't currently assigned to any products, including those marked as obsolete. Use the View Products page with filters set to "Obsolete: All" and your specific Product Brands to identify any remaining assignments and update accordingly.

To delete a Product Brand:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Product Brands.

  2. Click on the bin icon along the Product Brand's row.

If you don't see a bin icon next to a Product Brand, it means that brand is currently assigned to a product or used in a historic Sales Order and cannot be deleted.

Using Product Brands

To assign or update a Product Brand for a single product:

  1. Open the product's record.

  2. In the Details tab, use the Product Brands drop-down menu to select the appropriate Product Brand.

  3. Click Save.

For multiple products, use the Import Products template to efficiently assign brands to many products simultaneously.

Reporting on Product Brands

Once Product Brands are assigned to products, they become available as filters across various reports and views, enhancing your ability to analyze performance by brand category.
