For the big picture on currencies, EUR reference, and what buyers see, start from Automatic Currency Conversion for Product Prices.

The modal’s ? control opens this help from the live app (Intercom article 12291365).
1. What the modal controls
For each market row (regions such as France, EU Zone, United States, UK, Suisse, etc.—the exact list follows your platform’s configured Shopify markets):
Availability — toggle Product available / Product not available for that market.
Price — either use the base / reference amount, auto-converted amounts, or a custom amount for that market’s currency rules.
Disabling a market means shoppers in that market should not be able to purchase this SKU there.
2. Reading a market row
Each row shows:
Market name and currency (with an info tooltip listing countries covered by that market).
A switch on the left — on = active, off = not sold there.
For the primary EUR market (typically France in the default configuration), you can type a fixed EUR price. If the field is empty while the market is on, the copy explains that the base price from the main form will be used.
For non-EUR markets (for example United States in USD, UK in GBP), you choose:
Auto-convert — the platform derives a price from conversion rules (tooltip in UI: rates updated frequently for conversion), or
Custom — you type the amount you want in that market’s currency.
3. Uniform vs per-variant pricing
The modal supports two pricing modes:
Mode | When to use |
Uniform | One set of market rows applies to the whole product (no per-option differences). |
Variant | Automatically used when variants have Enable price adjustments and different option prices—you then edit each variant option’s market matrix. |
Switching modes can reset unsaved edits—use Save inside the modal when you are happy.
4. Saving, closing, and help
Save writes the structure back to the product form (and marks the parent product as changed until you Save / Send for review on the full page).
Closing with unsaved edits opens a confirmation dialog (save or discard).
If Intercom is loaded, the help icon may open the article inside the messenger; otherwise it falls back to the web URL below.
5. Practices that reduce mistakes
Toggle off markets you truly cannot serve—better than a wrong price.
Prefer Auto-convert when you do not have a strong local strategy; use Custom when you must hit a local anchor price.
After large edits, verify Approved products for Need Review status if other critical fields changed in the same session.
Keep the main form Base / Reference price coherent with your primary EUR market row.
6. Related
