Configure the Blackbaud User
To set up Blackbaud integration you will need to set up some permissions/roles within your Blackbaud SIS prior to setting up Visitu:
Blackbaud
You can use your own user profile in Blackbaud or you can create a Visitu User within Blackbaud, but there are some pre-requisites as to what roles that user will need:
You must have an authenticated Blackbaud ID
Your Blackbaud ID must be connected to your Platform Manager user in Core
This user must have the SKY API Basic and SKY API Data Sync role in Core
Visitu Dashboard
After these roles/permissions have been set in place, set up should be complete on the Blackbaud side. The following steps will be completed from the Visitu web Dashboard:
Log-in at campus.visitu.com with your credentials.
NOTE: You must have a role that allows for dashboard access to complete this process.
Navigate to your District Location.
Navigate to Settings→Integrations and follow the steps to add Visitu to Blackbaud.
Click Authorize Blackbaud.
You will then be linked to Blackbaud and told "Visitu would like to access your Blackbaud data". Click Authorize.
Your Integrations page should then look like this:
Configure Visitu Roles
On each location within your district, perform the following steps:
Navigate to Settings→Roles.
Select a role you wish to sync with Blackbaud.
Under Blackbaud Options, select the Blackbaud roles you wish to sync with Visitu Roles. If you start typing, a dropdown will appear with a list of suggestions that match the first few letters.
NOTE: You may sync multiple Blackbaud roles with a single Visitu role.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for every role you wish to sync with Blackbaud.
Configure Primary Phone Type
In your District Location, navigate to Settings→Integrations.
Under Phone Type, select the phone type you wish to sync from Blackbaud. This will be used for employee/visitor SMS notifications.
Start Your First Sync
From your District Location, click the green Sync Now button to begin your first sync. Once completed, the Sync Log will indicate that the sync is finished.
NOTE: Blackbaud will sync again 12 hours after the previous sync. You may sync at any time via the Sync Now button.
In each location within your district, check the user counts in Settings→Roles to make sure your Blackbaud users have been imported.
Common Sync Log Errors
Invalid Phone Number - Phone numbers must be a valid 10 digit mobile number since they are used for SMS notifications. They cannot include extensions and must include area codes.
Adding the SKY API Basic and SKY API Data Sync Roles in Blackbaud:
Navigate to your user profile within Core→Users→User List→search for your name→View record
Click on the Access Tab (You will need to be viewing the full user record to see and use this tab)Click on Role Membership→Edit Roles and add SKY API Basic and SKY API Data Sync:
