How to Send a Test Emergency Notification Alert
You can send a test notification to yourself when all settings have been configured and you’re ready to test. The test text will be sent to the phone number specified in the user profile of the user that’s logged in.
Navigate to Settings->Emergency
Click the link under Send Test Alert
How to Send Emergency Alerts
In the event of an emergency, it's important to send out Emergency Alerts as quickly as possible, so we have a few different ways of sending out alerts.
The Dashboard
Sending out alerts from the Dashboard can be done from any screen
Click the red Emergency button at the top right of your Dashboard
Select the template you want to send out, or write a custom message and click Send
Click OK in the dialog box
By default, your message will be sent to all users on campus for which you have contact information.
Visitu Kiosk (Receptionist Mode Only)
From the Home page, tap the EMERGENCY tile
Select a template or write a custom message and press SEND
Tap Send Alert
Visitu Mobile
Faculty roles can be given the ability to send emergency alerts in the Dashboard settings. In order to send an Emergency Alert from the Visitu Mobile app, follow the steps below:
Tap the at the top left corner of the app
Tap Emergency in the pop-up menu
Select the Location you want to send the Alert to
Tap the template message you want to send, or tap Or send a custom message
If you select Or send a custom message, enter the message you want to send and select a Status from the drop-down menu.
Tap Send custom emergency alert
When asked to confirm the emergency, tap Confirm
Stop Alerts
Once an alert has been issued. Visitu will stay in an Emergency Alert status. To end the Emergency Alert you must first be logged in to the Dashboard.
Click Stop Alert at the top right corner of the Dashboard
Click Confirm in the dialog box
