You can run Voicepaper actions directly from the Shortcuts app: play or pause speech, add a bookmark, change speed, import text, scan text, and search saved texts. Assign them to Siri, the Home Screen, widgets, automations, or the Action button to reach common Voicepaper tasks faster.
Available shortcuts
Search for Voicepaper while adding an action to see the shortcuts available in the public 3.9.24 build. These cover playback, adding text, OCR, and searching across saved texts.
Play / Pause toggles the current speech. Bookmark saves the current position so you can return later. Speed + and Speed - adjust the reading speed step by step.
Paste Text adds copied text to Voicepaper. Create a New Text opens a new text screen. Camera Scan and Photo Scan import text from paper or images. Search All Text helps you find text across your saved Voicepaper library.
Run from the Shortcuts app
Open the Shortcuts app and look for Voicepaper in the Library. Tapping a Voicepaper action runs that operation immediately.
For example, use Play / Pause when you want to stop speech while walking, or Camera Scan when you want to capture a paper note. You can jump to the exact task without opening Voicepaper and looking for the right button.
Add to your own shortcut
When creating a new shortcut, search for Voicepaper in the action search field, then choose the Voicepaper action you want. You can combine it with other actions or use it in an automation.
Useful examples include a shortcut that opens Camera Scan, sends copied text with Paste Text, or adds Bookmark while listening. On iPhone models with the Action button, assigning a Voicepaper shortcut can make capture and playback tasks even faster.
Use with Siri and automations
Give your shortcut a clear name to run it with Siri, or add Voicepaper actions to automations based on time, location, Focus mode, or other triggers.
If they do not appear
If Voicepaper shortcuts do not appear, update Voicepaper, open Voicepaper once, then reopen the Shortcuts app. Voicepaper shortcut actions are available on iOS 16 or later.
