Standard Insights

The Standard Insights provides basic, pre-configured volunteering metrics. If you would like more customisable insights into your volunteering activity, visit the Insights page to create your own dashboard. For more information, check out this article on Custom Insights.

Go to the Insights page on the left-hand side of the Staff Dashboard and click on View Standard Insights

There are two tabs, "Overview' and "Volunteer insights'.

Overview

On the Overview Tab, you can view metrics such as:

  • Volunteering time

  • Client happiness

  • Call frequency, attempts, and total duration

  • Number of reports (submitted by volunteer and staff)

  • Number of actionable reports

  • Number of missions marked as completed by volunteers

You can filter here by timeframe and by missions group.

For the information to pull through in your standard insights make sure the right data links are in place in your report template, here is an article on how to create a custom report on Volunteero.

Volunteer insights

Under the Volunteer Insights tab, you can see metrics such as:

  • Volunteering time

  • Top volunteers

  • Volunteer demographics

  • Engagement, including:

    • % of volunteers using the app

    • How many volunteers are joined a mission

    • How many volunteers submitted a report

You can filter here by timeframe and by volunteer group.

Volunteering time is calculated in years, months, hours and minutes, with any fractional time rounded down. For consistency, months on Volunteero are standardised to 31 days (equivalent to 744 hours).

Volunteer Group vs Mission Group

On the Overview page, you can filter by mission groups, while on the Volunteer Insights page, you can filter by volunteer groups.

  • Volunteer groups refer to the groups that volunteers themselves belong to, so filtering here shows hours submitted by those volunteers, regardless of which missions they were assigned to.

  • Mission groups refer to the groups assigned to missions, so filtering here shows the total hours submitted to missions with that group attached.

Filtering by groups on these two pages may yield slightly different numbers, depending on whether you want statistics based on missions or on volunteers.

To understand how to best structure groups for reporting, see our Guide to Setting up and Managing Groups and an article on Setting up Groups and Creating Hierarchies.
