Steps Tracking, Goal Progress & Daily Weigh-Ins

Written by Gina

Training sessions are what change your body composition over time. But there's a layer of daily activity that happens between your sessions — one that compounds quietly in the background and makes a significant difference to how fast you reach your goal.

Your steps. And your daily weigh-in.

Why steps matter more than most people realise

The difference between 4,000 steps a day and 10,000–12,000 steps a day is not trivial. For someone in a CUT phase, that gap in daily energy expenditure can be the margin between results that stall and results that move.

This isn't about adding cardio sessions. It's simply about how much you move outside of your structured training. Walking to get coffee, taking the stairs, moving around during the day — it all counts, and it all accumulates.

Steps in VRTO

  • Your step count is displayed on your Dashboard and also in your Training hub — it updates throughout the day

  • Sync VRTO with Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) to have steps tracked automatically — no manual entry needed

  • Your step target was set during on-boarding and can be adjusted any time from either your Dashboard or from your Training hub, simply tap on the Cardio Card and select "Change your daily step goal"

  • Steps feed into your Consistency calender on your Dashboard

To connect Apple Health or Health Connect: go to your Profile → Connections → Apple Health or Health Connect → Enable.

ℹ️ You don't need to hit your step target every single day. Consistency over the week is what matters.

The Consistency calender

The Consistency calender on your dashboard is one of the most useful things in VRTO

It shows how consistent you've been with your training, nutrition and steps. Each day fills in with progress loops and ticks as you complete things, and you can see your current streak too.

Results come from consistency, not perfection. Seeing your streak and your week at a glance makes it easier to stay on track and notice where things slipped.

Daily weigh-ins — why they're worth building as a habit

Weigh yourself in the morning before eating — that's when your weight is most consistent and comparable day to day. Log it in VRTO. The scale will fluctuate daily. This is completely normal and, on its own, doesn't tell us much. What matters most is the overall trend across 2 to 4 weeks.

VRTO helps you look beyond a single number by providing weight graphs with rolling averages, along with the ability to track and review body measurements. This gives you a clearer picture of your progress and helps ensure that one weigh-in doesn't knock your confidence.

  • For CUT phases: a downward trend over 2–3 weeks confirms the deficit is working

  • For BUILD phases: a gradual upward trend over 3–4 weeks confirms a surplus is supporting muscle gain

  • For MAINTAIN phases: a flat trend confirms your targets are accurate

💡 The daily weigh-in takes 10 seconds and now syncs automatically via Apple Health or Health Connect. The data it generates over 30 days is one of the most valuable inputs the coaching system has. It's worth the habit.
