Can I do other workouts alongside VRTO?

Yes - you can do additional workouts or activities alongside VRTO. Supporting activities like sport, yoga, dance, and incidental movement are encouraged, as long as you still complete your recommended VRTO training sessions each week.

How other activities work alongside VRTO

VRTO is designed specifically to guide and optimise your strength training, cardio, and overall weekly activity based on your goals.

Everything outside of that — sport, classes, movement, lifestyle activity — can be done safely as long as it doesn’t replace or interfere with your programmed training sessions.

VRTO will automatically track movement from:

  • Apple Health (with permissions enabled)

  • Health Connect (Please note: this feature is currently unavailable for Android)

This includes steps, general activity, and compatible workouts.

What types of other activity you can do in addition to VRTO

You can safely include additional movement such as:

  • Yoga or Pilates

  • Dance classes

  • Swimming

  • Recreational sport

  • Walking or hiking

  • Mind–body classes

  • Cycling

  • Group fitness classes

  • Martial arts

  • Any form of non-strength-based training

These activities support lifestyle enjoyment, mobility, and cardiovascular health, but will not be tracked and synced into VRTO

How VRTO integrates other activity

If permissions are enabled, VRTO will automatically receive data from Apple Health or Google Fit.

This includes:

  • Steps

  • Incidental movement

  • Activity minutes

  • Some types of logged workouts

This helps VRTO track your weekly activity levels more accurately.

If your steps aren’t syncing or you prefer manual control, you can also log steps manually.

How to balance additional training with VRTO

Additional activity should supplement your VRTO plan, not replace it.

Here’s how to do it safely:

  1. Complete your VRTO strength sessions first

These sessions are essential for progression and goal-aligned results.

  2. Add supporting activities on non-VRTO days or after training

This avoids interfering with strength performance and recovery.

  3. Monitor fatigue and stress levels

If extra activity impacts your recovery or ability to complete VRTO sessions, reduce the load.

  4. Use your weekly check-in to guide adjustments

VRTO uses your consistency, fatigue, and feedback to suggest changes if your schedule becomes unsustainable.

When you may need to adjust your plan

If additional activity causes:

  • Frequent missed VRTO sessions

  • Increased fatigue

  • Poor workout quality

  • Difficulty recovering

  • Loss of strength progression

Then VRTO may recommend:

  • Reducing extra activity

  • Switching to a shorter weekly structure (3/4/5 day variant)

  • Adjusting session duration

  • Updating your Training Profile to fit your lifestyle better
