Step 0: Verify the origin of your email account
Determine if your email address is from Outlook or Microsoft Office 365 by checking its domain:
If your email ends with @yourdomain.com, additional configuration might be required.
If you are using Outlook or already have SMTP configured, skip directly to Step 3.
Step 1: Access your Microsoft admin page
Ensure you have administrator privileges, which are required to enable authenticated SMTP.
Open the Microsoft Admin Page: Click here to access it.
From the Admin Center:
A menu will appear on the right:
Click on Mail > Manage email apps.
Enable the Authenticated SMTP option (if not already checked).
Save your changes.
Step 2: Disable modern authentication
💡 What is Modern Authentication?
Modern authentication is a security feature that may block synchronization with third-party tools like Waalaxy.
If you want to learn more about modern authentication:
From the Microsoft admin center:
Click on Settings, then Organization settings.
Search for Modern Authentication in the list.
Click on Modern authentication, which will provide a link labelled Enable security defaults in the Azure portal.
To disable Modern authentication:
Open the Azure portal
Click on Manage Security Defaults.
Set the security defaults to No, and save your changes.
Step 3: Sync Outlook with Waalaxy
Once you have completed the previous steps:
Congratulations! Your Outlook account is now successfully synchronized with Waalaxy and ready to use 🚀.
