How to warm up your LinkedIn account ?

“Warming up” your LinkedIn account before using an automation tool

Updated over 2 months ago

Before diving into LinkedIn automation, there are some basic rules you need to follow.

It is essential to prepare your account beforehand—meaning, to "warm it up."

⚠️ Before using any automation tool, your LinkedIn account must be warmed up. Otherwise, you risk a quick ban from LinkedIn.

Optimize your LinkedIn profile

A complete and professional profile is essential. LinkedIn is particularly cautious with new accounts or those that are not very active.

An optimized profile helps to:

  • Reassure LinkedIn’s algorithm.

  • Improve your connection acceptance and response rates.

Some key elements to focus on:

  • Professional profile photo

  • Custom banner

  • Clear and impactful headline

  • Relevant and well-structured summary

  • Detailed experience with descriptions

  • Education, skills, recommendations

Grow your network manually

Before activating any automation tool, ensure you have at least 200 to 300 connections.

Here are a few tips:

  • Invite your current colleagues, former classmates, or trainers.

  • Connect with 2nd-degree connections (people with mutual connections).

  • Target profiles that resemble your persona, i.e., your ideal prospect.

Showcase Relevant Content

Use the "Featured" section to highlight your projects, articles, or web pages:

  • Link to your website or your company’s website

  • Client testimonials

  • Case studies

  • Whitepapers / downloadable content

This strengthens your credibility and builds trust with profile visitors.

How to activate it?

  1. Click on the blue Add profile section button.

  2. Then select the Recommended option and finally Add featured.

Humanize your profile

A good profile is a lively one. To do this:

  • Add your key skills (and request recommendations).

  • Follow hashtags related to your interests or industry.

  • Join LinkedIn groups to show your involvement.

Be active and visible

Before automating anything, it is crucial to interact on LinkedIn:

  • Like and comment on posts.

  • Share relevant content.

  • Post your own updates (even once a week is enough).

The more active you are, the more LinkedIn will consider you as a "normal" user, which will reduce the risks when launching automations.

And then? Prepare your prospecting strategy

Define:

  • Your personas

  • Your approach message

  • The actions to automate (visits, follow-ups, connections, messages, etc.)

  • The right timing between each step
