A/B Testing: How do you set it up to test your invitation note or messages?

Improve your results by testing different approaches.

Updated this week

What is A/B Testing?

A/B Testing is a key method in digital marketing. It involves comparing two versions of the same element (content, message, visual, etc.) to identify which one generates the best results with your audience.

Example: Test version A (original) against version B (modified) on two similar samples of prospects.

The advantage: Measurable, concrete, and easy-to-interpret results.

Why perform A/B Testing on LinkedIn?

On LinkedIn, we aim to improve two key metrics, and therefore two A/B elements:

  • Connection acceptance rate ➡️ Test different invitation notes or no note at all.

  • Response rate to messages ➡️ Vary the wording, structure, or angle of your message.

How to set up an A/B Test with Waalaxy?

Step 1: Import your prospects

  1. From your LinkedIn account, perform a targeted prospect search (sector, role, location, etc.).

  2. Select a sufficient sample: at least 200 people (100 for group A, 100 for group

  3. Import:

    • Page 1 LinkedIn → List A.

    • Page 2 LinkedIn → List B.

Your prospects are now divided into two Waalaxy lists.

Step 2: Choose the sequence

Choose a sequence based on what you want to test:

  • For invitations: sequence with the "Invitation" step.

  • For messages: sequence with at least one "Message" step.

Step 3: Create Your Campaigns

Here, we will create two distinct campaigns based on the same template to test two different variables.

Campaign A:

  1. Go to the Campaigns tab > Create a campaign.

  2. Choose a suitable sequence (e.g., "Invitation").

  3. Import the prospects from List A.

  4. Do not add an invitation note.

  5. Launch the campaign.

Campaign B:

  1. Repeat the same process with List B.

  2. This time, add a personalized invitation note.

  3. Launch the campaign.

After launching your campaigns, the actions will be sent to the Queue and processed according to your daily quotas.

You’ve just created an A/B Test: same type of prospects, same sending time, only the variable changes (the invitation note) 🚀.

A/B Testing analysis

Wait 28 to 30 days before analysing the results—this gives prospects enough time to respond to your messages or invitation.

To analyse your A/B test results:

  1. Go to the Campaigns tab.

  2. Select one of the tested campaigns.

  3. Click on Analytics to access key indicators:

    • Acceptance rate (if you're testing invitations).

    • Response rate (if you're testing messages).

By comparing this data, you'll clearly identify the most effective approach 🚀.

A/B Testing for sending LinkedIn messages

The method is the same:

  • Create two campaigns with different message versions.

  • Compare the response rates to determine which one yields the best results. 👊
