Here's how to start a walk in Walkies, track it with GPS, and end it with a report for your client.
Start a walk
On Home, tap Activity.
Choose Walk.
Choose the dogs you're walking. Tap By client to see each client's pets together.
Tap Start. The walk starts tracking straight away.
During the walk
The timer, distance and weather show at the top, and your route draws on the map.
Tap + beside Pees or Poops on a dog's card to log one. It's added to the timeline with the place it happened.
Use the buttons along the bottom to add updates, photos and notes, or to contact the client.
Tap ✕ to leave the screen. The walk keeps recording, and you'll find it on Home.
End the walk
Tap End.
On Summary, add Overall notes, notes for each dog, and tick off any checklist items.
Tap End. Tap the message that appears to share the report card.
Walking dogs from different homes
Each client gets their own walk and report to start with.
Turn on Group report on the pet screen to put everyone on one shared report.
When several walks are running, End asks who you're ending the walk for, or Everyone.
What your client gets
A message when the walk starts, with a link to follow it live in the Walkies Journal app.
A message when it ends, with a link to the report: route map, distance, time, photos, updates and your notes. The link opens in the app, or in a web browser for clients without it.
Messages go by email, and by push notification if they have the app. SMS and WhatsApp need Walkies Pro or Max. Turn any of these off in Menu > Client notifications.
Good to know
Walkies needs location access while you're using the app. If it's off, you'll be asked to turn it on in Settings.
There's no pause. End the walk when you're done.
If you picked dogs up first with Pick up, Activity offers Walk with picked up pets to start straight away.
Walks from Home list dogs only. For other pets, use a hike, run or taxi, or a visit.
If Apple Health is connected, walks are saved to Health as workouts.
To start a walk you've booked, start it from the appointment instead. See How do I start a visit from an appointment?
