What are the Walkies Pay fees?

Walkies Pay is powered by Stripe. Stripe's card fee for every country, passed straight through to you.

Walkies Pay is powered by Stripe, one of the world's biggest payment companies. Stripe handles every card payment and pays the money out to your bank.

The only fee is Stripe's card processing fee for your country. It's passed straight through to you at Stripe's own published rate, and Walkies doesn't make any money from it. There's no Walkies fee, no setup fee and no monthly fee for Walkies Pay.

Fees by country

These are Stripe's standard rates for cards from your own country:

  • United States: 2.9% + $0.30

  • Canada: 2.9% + C$0.30

  • United Kingdom: 1.5% + 20p

  • Euro countries: 1.5% + €0.25. That's Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Finland, Luxembourg, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus, Malta and Croatia.

  • Australia: 1.7% + A$0.30

  • New Zealand: 2.65% + NZ$0.30

  • Switzerland: 2.9% + CHF 0.30

  • Singapore: 3.4% + S$0.50

  • Anywhere else: Stripe's standard rate for your country.

For every country, see Stripe's pricing page.

Examples

  • A $60 invoice in the US: the fee is $2.04 (2.9% is $1.74, plus $0.30), and you get $57.96.

  • A £60 invoice in the UK: the fee is £1.10 (1.5% is 90p, plus 20p), and you get £58.90.

  • A €60 invoice in Ireland: the fee is €1.15 (1.5% is 90c, plus 25c), and you get €58.85.

Passing the fee on to your clients

  • Turn on Customer pays processing fee in Menu > Client booking. The fee is added to your client's total, so you get the full invoice amount.

  • Your client sees the fee as Processing fee on the invoice before they pay.

  • Passing card fees on is restricted or not allowed in some countries and states, so check it's allowed where you work.

Good to know

  • Cards from other countries: Stripe charges more for international cards, and for some card types, so the fee on those payments is a little higher.

  • Refunds: Stripe doesn't give back its fee when you refund a payment.

  • Other ways to be paid: payment links (Venmo, PayPal, Cash App), Zelle, check, bank transfer and cash have no Walkies fees. See How can my clients pay me?

  • Seeing your fees: each payment shows its fee, and your total fees are in Profit & loss as Payment processing fees.

  • Rates can change: Stripe sets these rates, not Walkies. Your exact fees are always in your Stripe account.

Older Walkies Pay accounts: 5%

If you set up Walkies Pay before the new version, you may still be on the older one. There, Walkies takes 5% of each payment, which covers Stripe's fees. For example, on a $60 invoice the fee is $3, and you get $57.

  • If you see Switch to the new Walkies Pay in Menu > Walkies Pay, you're on the older version.

  • Tap it to switch. Payments then go straight to your own Stripe account, and you pay only Stripe's rate for your country instead of 5%.

  • Setup takes a few minutes with Stripe, and your current account keeps working until the new one is ready.
