How do I get customers?

Walkies doesn't find customers for you, but here's how pet sitters usually find them, and how Walkies helps you win and keep them.

Walkies doesn't find customers for you. It isn't a marketplace, and it doesn't list you for pet owners to find. You bring your own customers, and they stay yours. Here's how pet sitters usually find customers, and how Walkies helps you win and keep them.

Ways to find customers

  • Word of mouth: tell friends, family, neighbours and colleagues what you offer.

  • Local online groups: post in local community groups and neighbourhood apps.

  • Local businesses: leave cards or flyers with vets, pet shops, groomers and dog-friendly cafés, and team up with groomers and trainers to refer clients to each other.

  • Google: set up a free Google Business Profile, so people searching for a pet sitter near them find you. Ask every happy client for a review.

  • Referrals: ask happy clients to recommend you. Some sitters give a discount for each new client a referral brings.

How Walkies helps you win customers

  • Your online profile: a free page about your business, with your services and prices, qualifications, photos and contact details. It's private until you make it public. Go to Menu > Online profile > Details and turn off Hide company profile. Then add your Contact info, Qualifications and Gallery, choose your link in Company URL, and tap Share profile to send it.

  • Easy sign-up: send a new client a link to add their own details and their pets. See How do I send a client a link to add their own details?

  • Booking in the app: once they're your client, they can request bookings in the Walkies Journal app. See How do I let clients book with me?
