Stripe Payout Fee

Payout Fee .25% + 25¢ per payout

What is a Stripe payout fee?

The payout fee is a charge collected by Stripe when you transfer money from your Stripe account to your bank account. It consists of two parts: 0.25% of the payout amount plus an additional 25 cents for each payout.

Example: If you're transferring $100, the Payout Fee would be 0.25% of $100 (which is $0.25) plus an extra 25 cents, totaling $0.25 + $0.25 = $0.50.

The Stripe payout fee is found on the Payouts Report. When looking at a payout, the payout fee is calculated based on the previous payout, not the payout the payout fee is associated with.

When are Stripe payout fees deducted?

Payout fees are deducted daily and the fee is calculated based on the previous payout total.

Let's consider a scenario where you have a $3,000 payout on March 16th. According to the payout fee structure, it comprises two components: 0.25% of the payout amount and an additional 25 cents.

In this scenario:

0.25% of $3,000 is $7.50 (0.0025 * $3,000).
An additional 25 cents is added to this, totaling $7.75 ($7.50 + $0.25).

Now, as you review the Payouts Report, you will observe this $7.75 fee associated with the March 17th payout, not with the initial $3,000 payout on March 16th. It's essential to note that the payout fee for a particular payout is deducted from the following payout.

Stripe Merchant Fees

Stripe Merchant Transaction Fee

Online payments, keyed, stored cards (ie. for recurring plans) 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction

In-person payments through Terminal 2.7% + 5¢ per transaction

International cards have a 1.5% surcharge per transaction

When swiping the card the transaction would be considered a stored card transaction because it’s a shortcut to not have to manually input the card number.

What is a Stripe merchant transaction fee?

The merchant fee, also known as a payment fee or transaction fee, is a cost collected by Stripe for processing payments. For online payments or when you manually enter card details (keyed), and for transactions involving stored cards, the fee is 2.9% of the transaction amount plus an additional 30 cents. For in-person payments using a card reader (Terminal), the fee is 2.7% of the transaction amount plus an extra 5 cents.

Example: If someone pays you $10 online, the merchant fee would be 2.9% of $10 (which is $0.29) plus an extra 30 cents, totaling $0.29 + $0.30 = $0.59.

For in-person payments using a card reader (Terminal), the fee is 2.7% of the transaction amount plus an extra 5 cents.

Example: If you process a $20 payment in person, the merchant fee would be 2.7% of $20 (which is $0.54) plus an extra 5 cents, totaling $0.54 + $0.05 = $0.59.

When are Stripe merchant fees deducted?

They are applied to all credit card transactions and are deducted after tax is collected.

Does Stripe charge a processing fee for refunds?

Stripe does not impose a processing fee for refunds. Instead, Stripe retains the original transaction fee, which is either 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction or 2.7% + 5¢ per transaction, paid during the purchase.
