Building Your Direct Connection: How to Add a Contact Us Form

A step-by-step guide to adding, customizing, and optimizing contact forms in Wander Sites to capture guest inquiries and owner leads.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

A professional contact form is essential for building trust and capturing inquiries from both guests and potential property owners. Wander Sites provides a pre-built, spam-protected contact section that integrates directly into your dashboard.

What is the Contact Form?

The Contact Form is a modular section designed to capture lead information securely. When a guest submits their details, the system uses invisible Captcha protection to filter out spam before the message reaches your account.

While Wander Sites automatically generates a default Contact Us page when you first sync your site, you have the flexibility to customize that page or add a new form section to any existing page (like a "Properties" page or your "About" section).

How to Add the Contact Form Section

Follow these steps to insert a form into your site layout:

  1. Open the Editor: Log in to app.wander.com and click Pages in the left sidebar.

  2. Select a Page: Click on the page where you want the form to appear (e.g., the existing "Contact Us" page).

  3. Insert Section: Hover between any two existing sections on the page and click the "+" (Add Section) button.

  4. Select Form: Choose Form from the category list in the left panel.

  5. Choose Your Preset:

    1. Contact: The standard setup for guest inquiries (Name, Email, Phone, Subject, Message).

    2. List With Us: Optimized for owner leads, featuring an additional address field.

Customizing Your Form

Once the section is added, you can refine its functionality and appearance using the Settings Panel on the right side of the editor.

1. Refine Form Fields

  • Add/Remove: Only ask for the information you truly need to maximize conversion.

  • Reorder: Click and drag fields to change the sequence.

  • Toggle Requirements: Decide which fields are "Required" before a guest can click submit.

  • Labels & Placeholders: Update the text inside the boxes to match your brand's voice.

2. Adjust the Layout

  • Header & Title: You can add a title to the left side of the form (e.g., "Have questions about a stay?").

  • Minimalist View: If you leave the left-side title property blank, the form will automatically center itself for a cleaner, more minimal look.

3. Personalize the Confirmation

In the right sidebar settings, you can edit the Confirmation Message. This is the text guests see immediately after clicking "Submit." Use this to set expectations, such as "Thanks! We'll get back to you within 24 hours."

Pro Tips for Property Managers

  • Avoid Duplicates: Since Wander Sites generates a default "Contact Us" page, ensure you don't have a second custom one active at the same time. This keeps your footer and navigation menu clean.

  • Check Your Links: If you create a new contact page, remember to update the links in your Site Header or Footer to ensure guests are directed to the correct version.

  • Less is More: Data shows that forms with fewer than five fields have higher completion rates. Stick to the essentials!
