This article is intended to help users understand the system behaviour in the case that Group Templates for Local Terms are configured and at the same time, an Incoterm such as an EXW is applied, while the sales Profile (Shared with Me) is factored in. Which of the three will prevail, and how should the interaction be understood. Read on to learn more.
1. Configure the Group Template
To start, the user has begun by building an "Add Pieces" quote, from Singapore to Miami. The group template (denominated as "Group Template 1" has been configured with 4 local charges for the origin (Singapore) .
2. Adding the (uncommon) extra Local Charge
Next the user has added an extra local charge to the "Group Template 1", named "Dry Ice Fee at Origin". This additional local charge is the uncommon denominator in this example.
Add -> "Dry Ice at Origin" -> Save.
3. Comparing the Local Charges on EXW Incoterm Export list
Take a close look and note that on the list for the EXW Incoterm list, there are 7 local charges applied, no "Dry Ice at Origin" and only 4 of the local charges appearing on the list are common to the "Group Template 1".
4. Selecting the EXW Incoterm for the (SIN->MIA) to be applied
Once onto the process of applying the EXW Incoterm for local charges at the origin of the quote, the list of 7 incoterms will be applied to the local charges at Singapore.

5. Using the "Group Template 1" list to override EXW Incoterm
Once the user has moved to the Local Charges tab of the (SIN->MIA) Quote, under "Group Template" the "Group Template 1" can be selected and the rule is then applied: only those local charges common to BOTH the EXW and Group Template 1 lists will be applied to the quote on question.
Upon inspection, it's evident that only Outbound Handling Fee/Export Customs Formalities/Export Doc. Issuance/Pick-up Charge were common to both lists and appear as applied.
Conclusion: In the showdown between applying a Group Template for Local Charges vs. applying an Incoterm for Local Charges, the rule stands that the system will apply those local charges COMMON to both lists.
6. Applying Incoterm against “Shared With Me”
Next, the user follows testing with the EXW Incoterm applied at destination (MIA), and selects the “Shared with me” Sales Profile under the local charges tab.
Conclusion 2: Upon examination, it’s visible that the local charges for the EXW Incoterm Profile appear. Under an Incoterm profile, when “Shared with me” is later applied, the Incoterm profile overrides the sales profile.
7. Applying “Group templates” against “Sales Profiles”
Next, the user follows testing with the Group Template (Template Test #1) applied at destination (MIA), and selects the “Shared with me” Sales Profile under the local charges tab.
Conclusion 3: Upon examination, it’s visible that with the local charges for the Group Template (Template Test #1) applied at destination (MIA), when “Shared with me” is later applied, the system pulls no local charges to be applied.
