Wiser Checkout Upsell is a feature of the Wiser app that allows Shopify merchants to show personalized product recommendations or upsell offers on the checkout page. It helps increase average order value (AOV) by suggesting relevant products to customers while they are in the final step of the buying journey.
Requirements & Limitations for Using Checkout Extensions
1. Shopify Plus Plan is Mandatory
Only Shopify Plus stores can use checkout extensions to customize the checkout page.
Standard Shopify plans do not support checkout customizations.
2. Checkout Extensibility Enabled
Must enable the Checkout Extensibility framework via Shopify admin.
Classic checkout customizations (via
checkout.liquid) are being phased out.
3. Limited UI Placement
It only allows widgets in specific areas:
Checkout Sidebar
Shipping step
Payment step
Order Summary
4. Styling & Design Restrictions
Limited CSS access: You must use Shopify’s design tokens and themes.
No full control over custom styles, animations, or scripts.
