❗️Note: Some rubric edits, such as adding or removing proficiency levels, may not be completed after the assignment has already been assigned to students.

  1. From 'My Assignments', click on an assignment.

  2. Then click on 'Edit'.

  3. Scroll down to the rubric section.

  4. Re-order the rubric items by clicking on an item and dragging it up or down. If you want to add additional rubric items, click on 'Add Rubric Item'. If you would like to remove an item from the rubric completely, click the blue 'x' next to the item.

  5. Click on a rubric item to edit the descriptions and proficiency levels.

  6. Edit the rubric item to meet your grading needs.

    1. Display Other Language: Select 'Display Other Language' and choose Spanish to view the Writer Description, Reviewer Description, and Proficiency Levels Description translated from English.

    2. Writer Description: This is the description that students see while they are writing. Make sure to use student-friendly language.

    3. Reviewer Description: This is the description that you will see while you're grading.

    4. Proficiency Levels: These are the scores the student can receive on the rubric item. The default proficiency levels are set to automatically adjust the values of each level to be evenly distributed from 0 to 100%. If you would like to set different values for each level, uncheck 'use default proficiency levels'. Once you’ve unchecked the box, you can edit the values on the left.

💡Note that the values will always be out of 100 percent. This will adapt to your scoring preferences in the assignment. For example, if you have a rubric item worth 4 points, then 100% will translate to 4 points, and 50% will translate to 2 points, and so on. If you need assistance with this set up, you can contact the Writable support team using the live chat.

    5. Comment Stems: Click 'Add Stem' to add more optional starter text to help guide feedback.

    6. Grades/Genre/Skills/Standards: Edit the grade level, genre, skills, and standards as needed. As a reminder, at least one skill is needed in order to get AI feedback.

    7. Category: The category will auto-populate based on the type of assignment you've been creating and assigning.

  7. When you're done editing a rubric item, click the blue 'Done' button in the lower right corner to save your changes and return to the Edit Rubric screen.

  8. Repeat Steps 5–7 as necessary for each rubric item that you want to modify.
