Writable's 'Collect On' feature allows teachers to proactively plan ahead by selecting a future due date and time for collecting assignments.

Follow these steps to 'collect papers' on a specific date:

  1. From the 'My Assignments' page in Writable, find and click on the assignment.

Tip! To assign something to a class, you need to make sure you’ve copied the assignment to 'My Assignments' or created your own.

  2. Click 'Assign'.

  3. Check the boxes next to the class(es) you want to assign to, then click 'Next'.

  4. Check the 'Collect from students on...' box.

Tip! You can also use this feature to collect papers from your LMS synced classes (i.e. Google Classroom, Schoology, or Canvas). The assignment will be collected in your LMS class once the scheduled date has elapsed.

  5. Click on the blue link to choose the exact date and time you would like the assignment to be collected. Then click 'Confirm'.

  6. The scheduled date for papers to be collected will be displayed. If this date looks correct, click 'Assign'.

  7. When the date has passed students will no longer be able to make changes to the assignment.

Returning Papers & Changing the Due Date

From the Assignment Dashboard, you can return papers here:

You can also click the 'Settings' tab in the left menu to return papers and choose a new due date.

If the 'Collect on' date has passed you will need to return papers before changing the date.

Tips & Notes:

  • Assignments to HMH Ed-linked courses are required to have a "collect on" date.

  • To schedule an assignment for separate dates for classes, follow the assignment steps above for each individual class.

  • In the Supports tab, you can collect and return papers for individual students. Click here for more information.
