Writable recognizes any course rosters that you've imported into Writable. However, Writable only allows assigning to active published courses in Canvas. If a course has been concluded in Canvas, or the courses dates are past, you may be unable to assign, or experience an error while assigning to that course.
Here are some troubleshooting steps to understand if your Canvas course has been concluded:
1. Navigate to your Classes page in Writable. Verify the title is correct for any current courses. If you have identical course titles, double check each one to verify your student listing is your current and active student group in Canvas. If you see a course from a previous year or semester, it is recommended to archive that course.
2. Navigate to Canvas, and click on the Courses icon, then All Courses on the left menu bar. Any courses that have been concluded in Canvas will show as Past Enrollments. It is recommended that any concluded courses are archived in Writable.
3. Import Current Courses. Navigate to the classes page in Writable, and import any current or active courses you would like to assign to. Once you've verified your course listing in Writable, try reassigning to your current Canvas course. If you continue to experience an error, you can alternately try creating an assignment starting in Canvas using these directions.
If your course has been concluded, or is outdated, Writable automatically marks your course Inactive in LMS, and you won't be able to assign to this course.
