What Happens After I Sign Up For a Young Heroes Game?

Written by Mandycore the Manticore

Once you've signed up for a game on the site, here's what to expect before, during, and after your session.

What emails will I receive?

Confirmation email — sent immediately after you're accepted into a game (either via Instant Book or DM approval). This email contains your Prep Materials from the DM, including links to join the session and any instructions you need before playing.

Session reminder email — sent 24 hours before each session starts. This is a good prompt to check your Prep Materials and make sure you're ready to play.

Where can I find my upcoming games?

All your games are listed on your My Games page. Here you can see:

  • Upcoming sessions and their dates and times

  • The game's Prep Materials and DM links

  • Options to skip a session, leave a game, or change your seat count

What do I need to do before my first session?

Check your confirmation email or My Games page for Prep Materials from your DM. These typically include:

  • The link to join the Zoom video call

  • The link to join the Virtual Table Top on D&D Beyond, if one is being used

  • Character creation instructions

  • Any other information you need to be ready for session one

Read through everything carefully before your first session. If anything is unclear, message your DM directly.

When will I be charged?

You are charged 1 hour after the session start time — not at sign-up. Your card is authorized when you join but no payment is processed until the session begins.

See When Are Guardians Charged? for more detail.

What if I can't make a session?

If you need to skip a session, make sure to do so at least 24 hours before the start time to avoid being charged. You can skip directly from your My Games page.

What happens after the session ends?

After your session, you'll be able to leave a review for your GM from your My Games page. Reviews help other players find great GMs and give your GM valuable feedback.
