Adding Questionnaires to Ticket Types

Learn how to attach questions to your ticket types so you can collect information from attendees at checkout.

The questionnaire feature lets you attach questions to any ticket type so you can collect specific information from attendees before they complete their purchase. Attendees are required to answer every question before checking out, so you're guaranteed a response from every ticket holder.

You can use questionnaires to collect things like meal preferences, t-shirt sizes, dietary requirements, accessibility needs, or any other information you need to prepare for your event.

Why Attach Questions To Tickets?

By default, YourKind collects the attendee's name, email, and phone number when they purchase a ticket. The Questionnaire feature allows you to go further by gathering event-specific information such as:

  • Dietary requirements — for catered events.

  • T-shirt or merchandise sizes — for events with branded giveaways.

  • Company or organisation name — for conferences and networking events.

  • Emergency contact details — for outdoor or high-activity events.

  • Accessibility needs — to ensure all attendees are accommodated.

  • Custom questions — anything specific to your event.

💡 Tip

Only ask for information you genuinely need. Every additional field increases the chance of a customer abandoning the checkout process.

How to Add a Questionnaire

You can add a questionnaire when creating a new ticket type, or at any time afterwards by editing an existing ticket type.

  1. Open the Create Ticket Type or Edit Ticket Type form.

  2. Scroll to the bottom and find the Questionnaire section.

  3. Click the toggle next to "Do you want to include a questionnaire with this ticket?" to enable it.

  4. Your first question will appear. Choose between Multiple Choice or Text Input using the toggle at the top of the question.

  5. Type your question in the Question field.

  6. For multiple choice questions, add your answer options. You can add as many options as you need.

  7. To add more questions, click the Add Question + button. There's no limit to the number of questions you can add.

  8. Click Create (or Save if editing) when you're done.

Question Types

There are two types of questions you can add to a questionnaire:

  1. Multiple Choice — attendees select from a list of predefined options. Use this when you need structured answers you can easily sort through, like drink preferences, size selections, or yes/no questions.

  2. Text Input — attendees type a freeform response. Use this when you want open-ended answers, like asking for a favourite artist, special requests, or additional notes.

You can mix and match both types within the same questionnaire.

Editing a Questionnaire

You can edit a questionnaire at any time by editing the ticket type. This includes changing the question text, updating answer options for multiple choice questions, adding new questions, or removing existing ones.

💡 Tip

Make the most of your questionnaires by tailoring questions to each ticket type. Use multiple choice questions for things you need to organise in advance — like meal preferences, t-shirt sizes, or drink choices — and text input questions when you want open-ended feedback, such as asking for a favourite artist or any accessibility requirements. Keep questions short and specific so attendees can answer them quickly at checkout.
