Yes, you can absolutely use YourKind for free events. There are no fees for creating or running free events on the platform.

How to Create a Free Event

When setting up your event, simply create a ticket type with a price of $0. Attendees will be able to "purchase" the free ticket through the normal checkout flow without entering any payment details.

  1. Create a new event as normal.

  2. Add a ticket type and set the price to $0.00.

  3. Set the quantity available.

  4. Publish your event.

⚠️ Caution

Always set a ticket limit on free events. Without a limit, there is nothing stopping someone from claiming an unreasonable number of tickets, which can skew your guest list and take spots from genuine attendees.

No Fees on Free Tickets

YourKind does not charge any fees on free tickets. There are no platform fees, processing fees, or hidden charges.

What You Still Get

Free events have access to the same features as paid events:

  • Event page – a fully branded event page for your free event.

  • Guest list – track who has registered for your event.

  • Ticket scanning – use the YourKind app to scan tickets at the door.

  • Audience data – everyone who registers is added to your audience database.

  • Add-ons – you can still offer paid add-ons even on a free event.

  • Questionnaires – collect additional information during checkout.

  • SMS and email campaigns – send campaigns to your registered attendees (credit costs still apply for campaigns).

💡 Tip

Use free events to build your audience. Free events are a great way to grow your contact list for future marketing.

ℹ️ Note
Every person who claims a free ticket automatically receives a confirmation email and SMS with a direct link to their tickets, at no cost to you.

Mixing Free and Paid Tickets

You can have both free and paid ticket types on the same event. For example, you might offer a free general admission ticket alongside a paid VIP ticket. Fees only apply to the paid ticket types.
