Double bookings happen when someone schedules a meeting with you at a time that is already taken by another event on your calendar. Zeeg prevents this by checking your connected calendars for conflicts in real time—so invitees only see time slots that are genuinely available across all your calendars.
Calendar conflict checking is available on all plans, including the free Starter plan. On the free plan, you can connect one calendar and check for conflicts; on all other plans, you can connect multiple calendars and enable conflict checking for each of them.
How conflict checking works
When an invitee opens your scheduling page, Zeeg scans your connected calendars for existing events. Any time slot that overlaps with a busy event is automatically hidden, so it cannot be booked. This happens in real time, without any manual action on your part.
For conflict checking to work correctly, you need to:
✅ Have at least one calendar connected to Zeeg
✅ Enable conflict checking for the relevant calendars in your Calendar Connections settings
How to set up conflict checking
Step 1: Connect your calendar (if you haven't yet)
Click on your workspace name in the top left corner of your Zeeg dashboard and select Calendar Connections
Click Add and follow the prompts to connect your Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple Calendar, or another supported calendar
Step 2: Enable sync and conflict checking
Once your calendar(s) is/are connected, you'll find two relevant toggles in Calendar Connections:
Sync calendar cancellations — when you cancel an event directly in your external calendar (outside of Zeeg), Zeeg detects the cancellation and frees up that time slot automatically. Toggle this on to make sure cancelled events don't continue to block your availability.
Check for conflicts — scroll down to this section and toggle on each calendar you want Zeeg to check before showing available slots to invitees.
You can enable conflict checking for multiple calendars simultaneously—for example, your work Outlook calendar and your personal Gmail or Apple Calendar at the same time.
Also, don't forget to choose which calendar receives new bookings
In Calendar Connections, find the Add to calendar section (image above)
Select the calendar where new bookings should appear from the dropdown menu
Make sure this is the same calendar (or one of the calendars) you are checking for conflicts
Pro tip: Connect multiple calendars
If your time is spread across more than one calendar—for example, a work Outlook calendar and a personal Gmail calendar—you can connect both and enable conflict checking for each. Zeeg will check all enabled calendars before showing available slots to your invitees.
Example: if you use one calendar for internal meetings and another for external appointments, Zeeg will make sure that your meetings aren't clashing with none of those calendars.
Additional settings to reduce scheduling conflicts
Beyond conflict checking, Zeeg offers a few more tools to define event limits and give you better control over your schedule.
Buffers
You can add time buffers before and/or after each meeting so back-to-back bookings are not possible. For example, a 15-minute buffer after each call gives you time to wrap up before the next one starts.
To add buffers, go to the scheduling page you want to edit → click on Advanced on the left menu → configure the buffers before and after the event
Minimum notice period
Prevent last-minute bookings by setting a minimum amount of time required before a meeting can be scheduled. For example, requiring at least 2 hours' notice ensures you are never caught off guard.
This setting is also found under Advanced on each scheduling page, and it's called "Minimum scheduling notice".
Overbooking rules
If you have events on your calendar that should not block bookings—such as focus time blocks or all-day reminders—you can configure overbooking rules in Calendar Connections under the Overbooking section:
Ignore busy solo events — allows bookings over events that have no other attendees
Ignore busy events by keywords — allows bookings over events whose title contains specific keywords (e.g., "Focus time" or "Lunch")
FAQ
Why is Zeeg still showing a time slot as available even though I have an event on my calendar?
Make sure conflict checking is enabled for the correct calendar in Calendar Connections. If you have multiple calendars, check that all relevant ones have their conflict-checking toggle turned on.
Can I check for conflicts across multiple calendar accounts?
Yes. You can connect multiple calendar accounts (e.g., Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Calendar) and enable conflict checking for each one individually.
What happens if two people try to book the same slot at the same time?
Zeeg processes bookings in real time. Once one booking is confirmed, that slot is no longer available to other invitees.
Does conflict checking work for team scheduling pages?
Yes. For group, collective, and round-robin scheduling pages, Zeeg checks the connected calendars of all relevant team members before offering a time slot.
Can I allow certain calendar events to be overridden?
Yes, using the overbooking rules in Calendar Connections. You can configure Zeeg to ignore solo events or events with specific keywords in their title.
