This feature allows you to bulk update valves’ initial positions using the Excel template functionality. This can be useful when updating many valve position statuses at once—for example, when valves are delivered from manufacturers, after FAT testing, when importing data from older brownfield structures, or when receiving information from previous operators or contractors.
Navigate to the Valve list section where you will find the 'Set first position' button.
Download the Excel template.
The template includes only editable valves without a set status. Valves that already have a status will not be included in the Excel download. For example, if 100 valves are uploaded in ValveTrack and 10 have a status set, the Excel file will contain the remaining 90 valves with a blank ‘Last Final Position’ value.
Open the downloaded template and navigate to Column G "Initial position.
You can either select the status from the drop-down list or type it.
A data validation rule is in place that will trigger an error message if the value is spelled incorrectly.
There are different statuses you can set: Open, Partly open, and Closed.
Please remember that you can't leave any row blank (will be an error message) and that the status is spelled correctly. Any other changes made in this file will not be reflected.
Upload the updated Excel template
An error status will be shown if the initial position is blank or already has a status set.
When the uploaded template has no errors, you will be able to click "Submit Template."
Once the upload is completed, you will be able to sort the 'Last log entry time' in the overall Valve list to find the updated valves.
All changes made here are logged as a status check to ensure traceability in the future.
