Details about how to create, edit and finish a valve operations plan

Updated over 10 months ago

Here is a quick video introduction to the Planner section:

Overview and Add new plan

Once you are in the Planner section, you have three sub-sections named Planned, Ready for execution and Completed. You have a search bar to search for specific plans and the button Add new plan for any new operation that is being planned.

When you click the Add new plan, you will first give the plan a title (plan name). Then hit Add. The plan is now added, but with 0 steps populated.

You can edit (pen icon) the Plan name, delete it (trash bin icon) and view it (eye icon).

Add steps to the plan

To populate the steps, click on the name of the plan or the ‘eye’ icon on the left. The plan is automatically marked as Status = Planned.

In the upper right-hand corner, you have edit history and a copy link button. You can copy the link to the plan in ValveTrack to your/the CPY’s internal documents/systems for immediate viewing of the plan in ValveTrack. The QC name boxes are automatically grayed out as the plan is only in the Planned status currently.

Add valves and conditions to the plan operation schedule

You can add valves to the plan by clicking the ‘+ Add valves’ button and you can add conditions with the ‘+ Add conditions’ button.

In general, the purpose of a ‘Condition’ is to describe prerequisite for the valve operation. The more specific purpose of a ‘Condition’ is to enable the operation of the same valve multiple times during a single Plan’s execution.

When you start adding valves to the plan, you can narrow down the list by the search function. You can search the columns Title, Group, Tag, Status. Add the specific valve(s) to the plan. You can add several valves at the same time (bulk add) by choosing them with the tick box to the left. You can also assign the type of valve operation in bulk (for example if you want to change 10 valves that are all closed to all open).

Once the particular operation is selected, the valves are added to the plan list in the alphabetical order that the valves were shown in the search. By clicking the Pen icon, you can edit the specific operation and order line-by-line after you add the valves to the plan.

Add Conditions to the plan operation schedule

To add the Condition, click the + Add condition and fill in the details. You have a free-text box to state your requirements and you can choose the order where the condition should be placed within the plan. Please note that the Condition itself doesn't lock any proceeding steps to be completed (i.e. the Condition is just a visual reminder what needs to happen before the next step is to be done. You can associate the Condition with a specific valve operation by explicitly writing that in the Condition text box.)

Move the plan to "Ready for Execution" stage

Once you are happy with the overall plan, you click the button ‘Mark as “Ready for execution”’

In this stage, you will be able to check off the plan’s steps with adding the correct log information, QC and Approver free-text approval fields and mark each step as done.

The QC and Approver signatures can only be added once all operations are done and quality controlled with a saved signature. You can’t save the QC name for a specific line operation without clicking the Done tick box. Once you have filled out all the details and the Checker and Approver names are saved, you can click the button ‘Mark as “Completed”’.

Finish the plan by marking it "Completed"

Once the plan is set to Completed, you can’t make any more changes to it.

You can view the entire version history of the plan with the History button.

You can view the logs of each operation, but not change or update any information.

If you want to edit any information about a particular valve log, you need to find the specific valve in the Valve list overview. Make note of the valve name from the log pop-up.

In the Valve list section, find the valve name and click the 'Edit' icon on the particular valve.

Now you can edit the desired information of the valve and click save and the log is updated (with its appropriate log version history).
