AI Box Troubleshooting and Setup Guide
Vehicle Compatibility Check
For the AI Box to function correctly, your vehicle must have wired Android Auto installed by default. This is important because the AI Box does not support systems that only have wireless Android Auto.
Check your vehicle's manual to confirm if wired Android Auto is available.
You can also check the full list of compatible models here: Compatible Vehicle Models for AutoSky AI Box – Full List by Brand.
⚠️ Important:
If your vehicle is not on the list, we cannot guarantee compatibility.
In some cases, compatibility may vary depending on the version of the vehicle, even if the model is listed.
The AI Box is not compatible with any BMW models, as the BMW infotainment system uses security protocols that block the connection with our devices.
USB Port Connection Check
To ensure proper connection and functionality of the AI Box:
Connect the AI Box to the designated USB port in your vehicle for Android Auto.
Some vehicles have multiple USB ports, but not all of them are connected to the infotainment system.
If it doesn't work in one port, try another one.
LED Indicator Check
The LED indicator on the AI Box provides important information about the device’s status:
If the LED is off:
Check if the USB port is working and supplying power.
Try a different cable for the device.
Disconnect and reconnect the device to reset it.
If the LED is on:
Check the LED color and follow the corresponding steps:
🔵 Blue:
The AI Box is ready to function.
Open Android Auto on the infotainment system by pressing the Android Auto logo button or a similar button like "Phone Link" in some cases.
🔴 Red:
The AI Box is powered on but cannot connect to the infotainment system.
This may be due to insufficient power supply or an issue with the AI Box.
Solution:
Reset the AI Box or perform a Hard Reset.
Reset the stereo system. Refer to your vehicle's manual for specific instructions.
🟡 Other colors (Green or Amber):
If the LED shows other colors, contact customer service.
Troubleshooting
Set default startup in Android Auto:
Please note that the AI Box is designed to connect by default to CarPlay. If your vehicle only has Android Auto, it may not function correctly by default. To resolve this, follow the steps below to configure the device to connect automatically to Android Auto instead of CarPlay:
Ensure the AI Box is connected to the vehicle.
Using a needle or a similar object, locate the button near the USB-C port of the AI Box, the same one used for Hard Reset.
Press the button with the following pattern:
A long press (hold for 3 seconds).
Then, perform two short presses.
You must do this quickly, without leaving much time between each press.
After this pattern, the LED indicator should change color or blink. This will change the AI Box's configuration so that it will connect automatically to Android Auto instead of CarPlay.
Note: This procedure works on some of the newer versions of the AI Box Dual and Lite.
AI Box Restart
If you're still experiencing issues, try the following steps:
Disconnect the AI Box from the USB port and wait 10 seconds before reconnecting it.
Try a different USB port, as some ports may only provide power and not connect to the Android Auto system.
Turn off and on your vehicle.
Hard Reset of the AI Box
If the issue persists, perform a Hard Reset of the AI Box:
You will need a needle or a similar object.
Locate the button near the USB-C port of the device.
Hold the button for 20 seconds or until the LED changes color.
Wait a few seconds until the device restarts.
If the issue continues, contact customer service.
Insufficient Power Supply
In some Hyundai and Kia models, the USB port in the vehicle does not provide enough power for the AI Box to work fully.
This may cause the AI Box to turn on the LED, but not start the complete system.
Solution:
Use a USB-C to dual USB-A or USB-C male cable, depending on the USB ports available in your vehicle.
This cable allows for a power connection and a data connection, ensuring a stable connection.
You can purchase it on Amazon: Dual USB3.0 Data & USB2.0 Power A Male to USB-C USB 3.0.
If the device still doesn’t work after using the cable, contact our customer service.
Never Worked in Your Vehicle?
If the AI Box never worked in your vehicle:
Double-check the compatibility with the model.
Confirm that your vehicle has wired Android Auto and meets all the requirements.
If everything seems correct but the device still doesn’t work, contact customer service.
Stopped Working Suddenly?
If the AI Box worked correctly before but suddenly stopped:
Follow all the troubleshooting steps outlined above.
If the issue persists, contact our technical support team, and an AutoSky representative will get in touch with you to provide a personalized solution.
