Verifying Compatibility and Connection of the AI Box

Vehicle Compatibility

For the AI Box to work correctly, your vehicle must have factory-installed wired CarPlay. This is essential, as the AI Box is not compatible with systems that only support wireless CarPlay.

⚠️ Important:

  • If your vehicle is not listed, we cannot guarantee compatibility.

  • In some cases, compatibility may vary depending on the vehicle’s version, even if the model is listed.

  • The AI Box is not compatible with any BMW models because BMW's infotainment system uses security protocols that block the connection with our devices.

Checking the USB Port Connection

To ensure proper connection and functionality of the AI Box:

  • Connect the AI Box to the USB port designated for CarPlay in your vehicle.

  • Some vehicles have multiple USB ports, but not all are connected to the infotainment system.

  • If it doesn’t work in one port, try a different one.

LED Indicator Verification

The LED indicator on the AI Box provides important information about the device’s status:

  • If the LED is off:

    • Check if the USB port is working and providing power.

    • Switch the cable to a different one.

    • Disconnect and reconnect the device to reboot it.

  • If the LED is on:

    • Check the LED color and follow the corresponding steps:

      🔵 Blue:

      • The AI Box is ready to operate.

      • Open CarPlay on the infotainment system by pressing the button with the CarPlay logo or a similar button like "Phone Link" in some cases.

      🔴 Red:

      • The AI Box is powered on but cannot connect to the infotainment system.

      • This could be due to insufficient power supply or an issue with the AI Box.

        • Solution:

          • Restart the AI Box or perform a Hard Reset.

          • Reset the stereo system. Refer to your vehicle’s manual for specific instructions.

🟡 Other colors (Green or Amber):

      • If the LED shows other colors, contact customer support.

Restarting the AI Box

If you are still experiencing issues, try the following steps:

  • Disconnect the AI Box from the USB port and wait 10 seconds before reconnecting it.

  • Try a different USB port, as some only provide power and don’t connect to the CarPlay system.

  • Turn your vehicle off and on again.

Hard Reset of the AI Box

If the issue persists, perform a Hard Reset of the AI Box:

  • You will need a needle or a similar object.

  • Locate the reset button near the USB-C port of the device.

  • Press and hold the reset button for 20 seconds or until the LED changes color.

  • Wait a few seconds until the device restarts.

  • If the problem continues, contact customer support.

Insufficient Power

In some Hyundai and Kia models, the vehicle’s USB port does not provide enough power for the AI Box to work fully.

  • This may cause the AI Box’s LED to turn on but not start the complete system.

Solution:

  • Use a USB-C to Dual USB-A or USB-C Male cable, depending on your vehicle's available USB ports.

  • If the device still doesn’t work after using the cable, contact customer support.

Has the Device Never Worked in Your Vehicle?

If the AI Box has never worked in your vehicle:

  • Check compatibility once again.

  • Confirm that your vehicle has wired CarPlay and meets all requirements.

  • If everything is correct but the device still doesn’t work, contact customer support.

Did the Device Stop Working Suddenly?

If the AI Box worked correctly before but suddenly stopped working:

  • Follow all troubleshooting steps described above.

  • If the issue persists, contact our technical support team, and an AutoSky representative will reach out to provide a personalized solution.
