This guide is suitable for both CarPlay and Android Auto, with examples based on an iPhone running iOS 18. Note that the term “CarPlay” is used for simplicity. Steps may vary slightly depending on your phone model and operating system version.
To use the CarPlay or Android Auto function wirelessly with your Ai Box, follow the instructions below.
Setting Up Your Ai Box
Power On and Check the Device:
Ensure your Ai Box is connected and powered on.
Check that the LED indicator glows blue, confirming the device is operational.
Disconnect the Ai Box from WiFi (if applicable):
If your Ai Box is already connected to a WiFi network, disconnect it.
This step is not necessary if you are using an Ai Box Lite 2.0 or WCPAA-DUAL.
The Ai Box uses its WiFi antenna to transmit data and connect to your phone. Ensure the Ai Box WiFi network is turned off.
Starting CarPlay or Android Auto
Select CarPlay on Your Vehicle’s Screen:
On your vehicle’s infotainment display, select CarPlay or Android Auto.
This will activate the pairing mode on your Ai Box.
Phone Configuration
Enable Bluetooth on Your Phone:
Open the settings and turn on Bluetooth.
Ensure your phone is discoverable by other devices.
Find and Pair with the Device:
Locate the list of available Bluetooth devices on your phone.
Your Ai Box should appear as “AutoSky” or “CarPlayBox” followed by a set of digits (the name may vary by model).
Confirm the device name on your vehicle’s screen and select it.
If prompted, accept the pairing (no code will be shown).
Grant necessary permissions, such as access to contacts, if requested.
Accept the prompt asking if you wish to use CarPlay with this device.
Final Verification
Check the Connection:
Ensure the CarPlay or Android Auto interface appears on your vehicle’s screen. If the setup is correct, it should be ready to use.
Additional Tips
Check that your vehicle’s infotainment system is up to date.
If issues occur, restart both your phone and the Ai Box.
Troubleshooting:
If the issues persist, remove the Ai Box from your phone's Bluetooth settings.
Go to Settings, search for "CarPlay" in the search bar, select the Ai Box, and remove it.
Reset the Ai Box to factory settings and attempt the pairing process again.
