What are Event Caddy’s convenience fees, and how can they be managed?
When players register and pay online for an Event Caddy tournament, they pay a small convenience fee. This fee is passed along to your registering players so you can maximize your fundraising efforts for the cause you’re supporting. Event Caddy applies convenience fees to participant registrations handled via card payment platforms such as Stripe and PayPal. These fees ensure the smooth processing of payments while allowing organizations to manage their tournament finances effectively. Below, we outline key information about these fees and provide insights into how they can be managed.
Event Caddy charges a $4.00 convenience fee per player to the registering player if the player is paying by credit card.
These fees are applicable when using payment gateways like Stripe or PayPal.
Event Caddy charges a $4.00 convenience fee per player to the registering player if the player is paying by credit card. This fee is added to the total purchase amount, ensuring it does not reduce the organizer's net revenue.
Players do not pay the credit card convenience fee if registering for the tournament and paying by cash or check (only available for Event Caddy PRO tournaments).
For tournament organizers on the FREE Event Caddy plan, the convenience fee charged for each player registration by credit card is how we can continue to offer our software that helps simplify tournament planning for you.
For tournament organizers on the PRO or ELITE Event Caddy plans, the convenience fee for credit card registrations covers the cost of maintaining the infrastructure involved to provide you access to features such as the online store, live scoring and player text messaging.
If you wish to absorb the convenience fee for your player(s), please let us know and we will make the adjustment within your tournament. Once your event has ended, Event Caddy will send you an invoice through Stripe for the convenience fees based on total number of players registered.
Organizers have two primary options for managing these costs: passing the fees to participants using the fee transfer setting or including the fees in general registration costs for transparency.
NOTE: This convenience fee is separate from any fees Stripe or PayPal charge when you are utilizing their services for accepting payments. For example, for a $100 registration fee, Stripe would charge $2.90 (2.9%) plus $0.30, totaling $3.20, leaving $96.80 for the organizer. Stripe charges a standard 2.9% of the transaction amount plus $0.30 for every transaction processed, which is deducted before funds are deposited into the organizer's account.
