Amazon warehouse processes are not always perfect. Products can get lost, damaged, incorrectly booked in, or affected by other inventory issues. As a seller, these cases are often difficult to notice manually.
In many cases, Amazon automatically assigns a reimbursement value to these products. However, this value is often lower than the actual purchase price you originally paid. As a result, sellers may receive less money back than they are actually entitled to.
ProfitDesk helps solve this problem by giving you a clear overview of potential reimbursement cases. You can quickly review the affected products, update the correct purchase prices, and submit the information to Amazon with just a few clicks.
This gives Amazon the necessary data to review the case and, ideally, reimburse the correct purchase value.
In the following steps, we will show you how to use the Reimbursements tool inside ProfitDesk.
Important: The Reimbursements feature works best for products that have been tracked in ProfitDesk. Since ProfitDesk stores the original purchase price (Cost of Goods), it can compare this value with the reimbursement amount provided by Amazon.
Example
Let's assume you purchased a product for €100 and tracked it in ProfitDesk. Later, Amazon reimburses you only €80 for a lost or damaged item.
In this case, you may be entitled to a higher reimbursement amount. The Reimbursements tool helps you provide Amazon with the correct Cost of Goods information.
Updating Your Cost of Goods
To begin, click "Get Your Money Back" in the top right corner.
Then:
Select Take Cost of Goods from ProfitDesk.
Download the empty reimbursement template from Amazon Seller Central.
(Sometimes it the download is buggy, just click multiple times the download button)Upload the empty template into ProfitDesk.
Select the date range that should be included.
Optionally choose Highest Buy Price if you want ProfitDesk to use the highest recorded purchase price for each ASIN.
Continue to the next step.
ProfitDesk will automatically fill the template with the Cost of Goods data from your tracked orders.
Once the template has been generated, simply download it and submit it to Amazon Seller Central where you downloaded your original template.
Amazon can then use this information to review your reimbursement amounts and potentially increase the reimbursement to reflect your actual purchase costs.
Managing Reimbursement Cases
Within the Reimbursements overview, you can also:
Add Amazon Case IDs to individual reimbursement cases.
Update the reimbursement status manually.
Mark cases as Under Review or Completed.
Add notes and comments for internal tracking.
This makes it easy to focus on the reimbursement cases that require your attention.
