The Inventory Returns section tracks everything that comes back from Amazon's warehouses: FBA customer returns and removal orders.
The page is split into three tabs:
By Package – process a returned package step by step, from scanning the package to sending the items back to Amazon.
By Item – every returned unit in one table, with its status, return reason, customer comment and listing.
Reimbursements – returns that never made it back to you: items Amazon hasn't returned and refunds where the customer never sent the item back.
Looking for reimbursements for inventory Amazon lost or damaged in its warehouses (e.g. Lost Inbound, Lost Outbound)? These are covered in the Amazon Reimbursements guide.
Processing returns by package
The fastest way to work through your returns is the By Package tab. Each row is one return package Amazon is sending you, with its tracking status and expected contents. Packages move through the statuses Pending, Shipped, In Progress and Done.
When a package arrives, click Start Scan. The Scan Flow guides you through four steps:
Step 1: Package scan
Scan the shipment label or type the tracking number. ProfitDesk finds the package and shows its return ID, date and number of items.
Step 2: Item scan
Open the package and scan the LPN or FNSKU of each item, in any order. You can see at a glance which items are done and which are still left. If there is a delivery note in the package, you can scan it with your phone and keep it with the return.
Step 3: Confirm & action
Check that the scanned item matches and add photos as evidence with your phone. Then decide what happens next: Create Case to request a reimbursement, Relist to create an FBA or FBM listing, or Create Task to assign it to your VA. If none of these is needed, click Skip step.
Step 4: Inbound
Relisted items are added to a draft inbound shipment right away, so you can collect several returns and send them back to Amazon together once the new SKUs have been created. If needed, you can still add a case or a task for the item here. Click Finish Package to mark the return as processed.
Your progress is saved automatically, so you can pause at any time and continue later with Resume Scan.
Tip: You can scan with a handheld scanner, type the code on your keyboard, or click Connect ProfitGo to use your phone as a scanner: you get a push notification on your phone, open it and start scanning. Codes appear instantly.
Tracking returns by item
The By Item tab lists every returned unit, marked as either a Customer return or an Amazon removal. Each row shows the product, the return data (SKU, LPN, order, FNSKU and quantity), the customer's comment with a Translate button, the condition and return reason reported by Amazon, and the listing you created for the item.
Every return moves through four statuses: Awaiting arrival, Received, In Progress and Closed. Set the next status with one click in the status timeline. ProfitDesk also closes returns automatically, for example once Amazon has reimbursed you for the item.
While a return is awaiting arrival, a small icon shows our estimate of whether it has already reached you: Arrived, Likely arrived or Arrival unknown.
Returns that take longer than expected get an Overdue badge below the product image. Turn on Show only overdue to see just these.
Relisting a return
If a returned item can be sold again, you can list it directly from the return: in the By Item tab, click the + in the Return Details column, or choose to relist it in step 3 of the Scan Flow. This opens Create Product Listing.
Fulfillment type: choose FBA or FBM. The SKU is generated from your SKU pattern for returns. If you have set Listing Presets for returns in the settings, the fulfillment type and marketplaces are already prefilled.
Condition: select the condition you found when inspecting the item.
Existing offer: keep Create New Listing or add the item to one of your existing offers for this product.
Selling preferences: select the marketplaces and, if you like, a target Margin or ROI (10 %, 20 % or custom). With Only raise prices, marketplaces below your target are lifted to it, while higher prices stay unchanged.
Cost and reference price: your Cost is prefilled from the original order, and profit, margin and ROI are calculated from it. The Reference price (Current, Target price, or the 30/60/90-day average) sets the suggested listing price. If it has no value for a marketplace, that listing price shows a red warning.
Marketplace cards
Below the settings, every marketplace gets its own card with its Keepa chart (30 to 365 days), the listing price, recent sales, profit, margin and ROI, the ungating status and a flag that opens the Amazon listing. Each card also shows how your price compares to the 60-day average. If you only list on one marketplace, its card takes the full width and additionally shows your break-even price.
Use the Charts toggle to hide the Keepa charts. ProfitDesk remembers your choice for the next listing.
More options
Click Add option to switch on additional fields:
Max Order Quantity – the highest quantity a buyer can order at once. Leave it empty for no limit.
Min / Max Price – hard price limits on your Amazon offer, entered as a percentage of the listing price.
B2B Pricing – the business price Amazon Business buyers see, plus up to 5 volume discount tiers with suggested steps of 3, 5, 7 and 10 % off. Amazon's rules for quantities, break-even and business price are checked while you type, because Amazon creates nothing at all if one of them is violated.
A value in the top section applies to all marketplaces. To use a different value on one marketplace, change it on that card, where it is then marked with a dot. Click the star next to an option to save it as your default, so it is switched on and prefilled next time.
Price safety check
Before the listing is created, ProfitDesk checks every price. A price 25 % below the 60-day Buy Box average turns amber and has to be confirmed with a checkbox. A price below your break-even or 50 % under the average turns red, and you have to type the value again to confirm it.
Once everything is set, click Create Listing for X Marketplaces.
Reimbursements for returns that never came back
The Reimbursements tab lists all returns that never made it back to you, where Amazon may owe you money and you can open a case: items Amazon failed to return to you, and refunds where the customer never sent the item back. For each item you see the refunded and missing quantity, the amount already refunded and the Claim window: the return date, the day from which you can file a claim and how old the case is.
Items move through the statuses Not ready (the claim window hasn't opened yet), Ready, Case opened and Done. With the default sorting Actionable first, the claims you can file right now appear at the top, and the claim window also tells you when a claim is overdue or has expired.
Use Check reimbursement to review an item and Open case to start the claim with Amazon. For overdue cases you are asked to give a reason. Once the case is open, add the case number and the item moves to Case opened.
Case numbers, notes and tasks
For returns that need further communication with Amazon, add the Amazon case number directly to the return. You can also add internal notes, for example to document the inspection result, and create a task for your VA from the Tasks icon in the Actions column.
Filters, sorting and presets
By Item, By Package and Reimbursements each have their own search, filters and sorting. Use Filters to narrow the list down, for example by status, condition or return reason, and Pick date to focus on a time range. Save a combination you need regularly as a preset and reapply it later with one click.
Serial numbers and photos
With ProfitGo on your phone, you can save an item's serial number together with a photo before you ship it, for example via the Serial Numbers action on the order. Both stay attached to the item across ProfitDesk.
If a buyer sends back a different unit than the one you shipped, you have the proof ready for your case with Amazon.
