❗️Important

Before you can complete the steps in this article, you must complete the follow initial steps to set up Crossbeam.

After completing these steps, you will be able to build a Standard Population!

Overview

Populations in Crossbeam are segments of data from your Data Source. These Populations align with key stages in your funnel, such as Customers, Open Opportunities, and Prospects. After your data source has been processed, head on over to the Populations workspace to get started.

Create a Population

  • Click the Data icon in the left-side Menu to open the Data & Sharing side panel

  • Select Populations from the panel options to display the Populations area

  • Under Populations, you’ll see three Standard Populations: Customer, Open Opportunities, and Prospects

  • Click the Create button next to the desired Population to build it

Population Builder

After clicking the Create button, you will be in the Population builder.

Complete the fields:

  • Population Name will be pre-filled based on the Population you selected

  • Add Optional Population Description

  • Select your Data Source from the Data Source menu

  • Under File the Name will be pre-filled base on the CSV file you uploaded, or you can click the drop-down menu to select a different file

Click Continue to start the process of applying filters to the Population.

Add Population Filters

Filters allow you to segment your data and create a more specific Population. To add filters, click the drop-down menu to Add Table Filters.

The example below shows two filters groups on the Population: Account Type is Prospect AND Amount is not empty.

Preview or save the Population using the appropriate button.

After you save the Population, you will be prompted to set the Sharing Default.

Once you have created standard Populations, you will be ready to start building reports for account mapping!
