How to use attribute overrides to set a value for one channel

Change one attribute value for one item on one sales channel, and review or remove overrides on the Attribute Overrides page.

An attribute override replaces the value Acenda sends to one sales channel for one attribute on one item, without changing the catalog value or the channel's Posting Template mapping. It's the fastest fix when a single listing needs a different value than the catalog or the template would otherwise produce.

Once applied, the override becomes the value for that item, channel and attribute. It keeps winning even if the catalog value changes later, until someone removes it.

When to use an override

Use one when a single item on a single channel needs a different value, for example a quick fix for one rejected listing while a longer-term catalog or mapping fix is pending.

If the same problem affects many items, fix it at the source instead: edit the catalog value (changes it everywhere) or the Posting Template mapping (changes it for every item on that channel). An override only touches the one item, channel and attribute it was created for.

Adding an override from the Channel Status tab

  1. Open the item and go to its Channel Status tab for the channel you want to fix. What is Channel Status? explains this tab.

  2. Find the attribute's row and click its Override value icon. This opens the Manual Override dialog.

  3. Enter the new value. If the attribute has a list of allowed or suggested values, pick one from Manual Override Value (or Manual Override Values if it takes more than one). Otherwise, type the value.

  4. Add a reason if you like. The Reason field is optional, but a short note on why you changed the value helps whoever reviews it later.

  5. Click Apply Override. The override takes effect in Acenda right away, ahead of any AI suggestion or the original catalog value. It reaches the channel listing on the item's next render (see Troubleshooting below).

Reviewing and removing overrides

Every manual override and every accepted Acenda IQ suggestion is listed under CATALOG > Attribute Overrides. (To learn how suggestions work, see How to get started with Acenda IQ AI suggested fixes.) Pick one or more channels under Sales channels first. The page shows nothing until at least one is selected.

The Identity column shows the item's SKU and title, with its type, attribute and decision date underneath. Values shows the change (original to override). Actions lets you edit, remove or expand the row to see the reason and, for AI rows, the AI's reasoning. Narrow the list with the Manual / AI accepted toggle, the Attributes filter or the SKU starts with search.

To remove one override, click the trash icon on its row. It does the same thing as Undo manual override on the Channel Status tab. To remove several at once, check their rows and click Remove selected. A removed manual override falls back to the next value in line (an accepted AI value if there is one, otherwise the original). A removed AI-accepted row is rejected and reverts to the original value.

The pencil icon reopens the same dialog so you can change a value. Editing an AI-accepted row turns it into a manual override. There's no bulk way to add overrides (no import or template), so each one is applied from an item's Channel Status tab. Only removal works on several rows at once.

Important: Removing overrides, including with Remove selected, takes effect right away and can't be undone. If you remove one by mistake, you'll need to add it again by hand.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

  • The override hasn't reached the marketplace yet. Applying or removing an override updates Acenda right away, but the listing only picks up the change on the item's next render and then on that channel's normal send schedule. On the Attribute Overrides page, a small warning icon next to a value means the override hasn't re-rendered yet. That's expected and clears on its own.

  • I changed the catalog value or the Posting Template mapping, but the listing still shows the old value. An override keeps winning over later catalog and mapping changes until someone removes it. Check CATALOG > Attribute Overrides (search by the item's SKU) for an override on that attribute and channel.

  • A listing error isn't clearing after I applied an override. Errors clear only after the marketplace accepts the updated listing. See How to fix marketplace listing errors for how that works.
