How to Reserve, Reschedule, and Manage Canadian Casper Test Dates?

Information about Casper test dates for Canadian programs

Updated yesterday

Most Canadian programs accept applications from August to April, although specific timelines can vary by program. It is important to check the deadlines and timelines for the programs you are applying to.

Reserving a Casper Test

Before reserving your Casper test, you typically need to submit an application to at least one program. When reserving a test:

  • You must select at least one program.

  • You must enter any required program-specific ID numbers (e.g., OMSAS ID), which you’ll receive after submitting your application.

Managing Multiple Programs with Different Test Dates

If you’re applying to multiple Canadian undergraduate medicine programs that don’t share a common test date, follow these steps:

  1. Reserve a test date for the program(s) with the earliest test dates.

  2. Add additional programs to your distribution list later, once you receive the necessary ID numbers.

  3. Ensure all programs are added before their distribution deadlines.

Example:

You apply to both Dalhousie and Queen’s undergraduate medicine programs. Dalhousie’s final test date is in August, while Queen’s first test date is in October. You may:

  • Reserve the August test and list only Dalhousie initially.

  • Add Queen’s closer to October after receiving your OMSAS ID.

You will not need to take the test again.

You can view test dates and program-specific ID requirements on the Dates and Fees page. Instructions for adding programs are also available on our Help Centre.

Rescheduling Your Test

You can usually reschedule your test yourself by following the instructions provided in our rescheduling article.

If your currently reserved test includes programs with earlier test dates (e.g., August), and you wish to switch to later programs (e.g., October), you will need to:

  1. Remove or swap those programs from your distribution list.

  2. Wait for OMSAS ID(s) if required by the new programs.

  3. Contact Acuity Insights Support to complete the changes. Use the chat bubble or email us at support@acuityinsights.app.

Include in your message:

  • The programs you wish to remove

  • The programs you want to add

  • Any necessary OMSAS ID(s)

There is no fee to swap one program for another.

Rescheduling Fees

  • Free rescheduling is available 31 or more days before your test date.

  • A $20 rescheduling fee applies if you reschedule within 30 days of your scheduled test or after the test date.

  • Exceptions may apply for approved technical or medical issues, or for those in a fee assistance program honoured by Acuity Insights.

Note: If you’re waiting for your OMSAS ID to reschedule, you may receive an automated email saying you missed your test. This can be safely ignored while you complete the rescheduling process.

Example:

You scheduled a test in August with Dalhousie. You later decide not to apply to Dalhousie and instead apply to McMaster, whose test dates begin in October. Wait for your OMSAS ID, then:

  • Contact Acuity Insights to swap Dalhousie with McMaster

  • Provide your OMSAS ID

  • We’ll assist you in rescheduling your test

You can also add more programs afterward by following the provided steps on our Help Centre.

Test Language Requirements

You must take the Casper test in the language of the program you’re applying to.

Example:

You apply to Sherbrooke (French only), McMaster (English only), and McGill (English or French). You must:

  • Take the French Casper test for Sherbrooke. (CSP-20206F-Sciences de la santé-niveau 2)

  • Take the English Casper test for McMaster. (CSP-10201-Canadian Professional Health Sciences)

  • Choose either French or English for McGill (not both) and add it to that distribution list
