Which Quebec Program IDs Are Needed and How to Edit Them?

Which IDs (numéros de demande d’admission, numéro de matricule, etc.) are required by Quebec programs and those IDs can be edited?

Updated this week

When applying to certain programs in Quebec, you may need to provide specific identification numbers. These IDs are typically issued after you complete the necessary application steps through the university's portal or admissions system.

Here’s what you need to know for each university:

University of Montreal & McGill University

  • No ID required.

  • However, make sure the email address on your Acuity Insights account matches the one you used when applying to these universities.

University of Sherbrooke

  • You will need to provide:

    • An 8-digit student number

    • and/or an 8-character application file number

  • If you used a Sherbrooke ID in a previous application cycle, you must update it in your Acuity Insights account before reserving your new Casper test.

Laval University

  • You must provide a 9-digit Laval ID number that starts with 1, 5, or 9.

Can't Find Your ID?

If you're unsure where to find your required ID number, please contact the specific university program directly. They can help you locate the correct information.

How to Edit Your Laval or Sherbrooke ID

If your ID changes each year (e.g., Sherbrooke application number), you'll need to update it before reserving your Casper test, especially if you entered an old one during a previous cycle.

To update your ID in your Acuity Insights account:

  1. Log in to your Acuity Insights account.

  2. Click your name at the top right, then select “Account.”

  3. Go to the “IDs” section.

  4. Click the pencil icon next to the ID you want to change.

  5. Enter your new ID, confirm it, then click ✓ to save.

  6. Once updated, you can proceed to reserve your Casper test.
