Planning your Casper and Duet: A quick guide to when and how to take them

Understand when you need to take Casper and Duet, and check the time requirements for your Acuity Insights assessments

Updated over 3 weeks ago

All test dates and distribution deadlines are pre-arranged with academic programs and tests are processed as a group to ensure timely delivery of scores.

1. Reserving your Casper test

You must take the Casper test on a date that matches the program(s) you're applying to. These dates are listed on the Dates and Fees page.

  • Reserve early: Reserve your Casper test at least 3 days before your preferred test date. This allows time for your identity to be verified and your payment to be processed.

  • Avoid last-minute reservations: They are not recommended and may risk delays. Reserving your Casper test early allows you to reschedule if you need to, and in some cases, your programs/courses can begin reviewing your application sooner.

2. Testing accommodations

If you need testing accommodations (such as extra time or assistive technology), you must submit:

  • All required forms

  • Supporting documentation

These must be submitted at least 4 weeks before your scheduled test date.

3. Taking Duet (If required by your program)

Some programs also require the Duet assessment. Here's what you need to know:

  • Recommended timing: Complete Duet within 14 days after taking Casper. This helps ensure that both scores are available together to be considered by your program(s).

  • Check requirements: Visit the Dates and Fees page and your program’s official website to confirm if Duet is required.

  • Program requirements: Even if your program’s requirements change, you can still complete Duet anytime before your earliest distribution deadline.

If you choose not to take Duet (or cannot complete it):

  • Your Casper score will still be distributed to your chosen programs.

  • Your Duet score will appear as "Not completed."

4. Score delivery timeline

Casper scores are usually distributed to programs 2 to 3 weeks after your test date.

5. Time zone reminder

Casper test times are shown in North American Eastern Time — either EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) or EST (Eastern Standard Time).

  • Double-check and convert to your time zone to make sure you log in at the right time.

  • Use the countdown timer on your Acuity Insights test page for accuracy.
