If Your Posts Aren't Being Picked Up

How posts get matched to you, what to check when one doesn't appear, and how to update a changed handle.

You posted, you tagged Airbnb, and nothing has appeared. Two different things can be going on, and they have different fixes — so start by working out which one you're looking at.

Which problem is it?
The post isn't in my Hub at all → it hasn't been matched to you. Keep reading.
I can see it on my storefront but my followers can't → it has no products tagged yet. Tag one and it appears for everyone.

How your posts get found

We look for posts from the social accounts linked to your profile that meet the program's tagging rules. When one matches, it appears in your Hub.

It isn't instant — posts are picked up on a delay after you publish, usually a matter of hours.

What gets picked up

Only posts you publish yourself, from an account linked to your profile.

  • On Instagram — feed posts, Reels and Stories. A feed post can be a single image, a video, or a carousel

  • On TikTok — the videos you post

For each one we read the post and its engagement: likes, comments, impressions and an engagement rate. TikTok posts also carry shares and reach, and Instagram Stories carry replies. That's what fills in the Content section of your Dashboard, and it's what the Airbnb team sees when they look at how the program is doing.

What reaches your storefront. A post that gets picked up lands in your Hub first. It only becomes visible to travelers once you tag a product in it — until then you're the only one who can see it, which is why a post can look live to you and be invisible to your followers.

Check these first

  • Is the right account linked? Open your Dashboard and check the Instagram and TikTok handles on your profile are the ones you actually posted from

  • Is your account public? Private accounts can't be read, so posts from them won't be found

  • Did you tag Airbnb the right way? This is what the pickup looks for. On TikTok, Airbnb needs tagging in the caption — a tag anywhere else won't count

  • Has enough time passed? Give it a few hours before treating it as missing

A hashtag isn't what gets you found. #airbnbpartner is the only hashtag the program requires, and every post needs it — but it's your disclosure, for the people watching. Tagging Airbnb is the separate thing that gets a post picked up. See Program Guidelines.

Stories and reposts

Stories are picked up, but whether they count towards a program is set per program — some count every Story, some none at all. Check your program's guidelines before you rely on them.

Reposts don't count, and the reason is worth knowing: a repost isn't your post. Only content you publish from your own linked account can be matched to you.

  • Instagram — resharing someone else's post to your feed or your Story doesn't make it your content, so it won't be picked up

  • TikTok — the Repost button doesn't put a video on your profile, so there's nothing for us to find

A stitch or a duet is different. That's your own video, so it can be picked up — tag the product in it as you would on any other post.

If you want credit for a place another creator has covered, post your own take on it and tag the product yourself.

If Instagram won't connect

Three things to check, in this order:

  1. Your account is public. A private account can't be read, so nothing from it can be matched to you

  2. You're on a Creator or Business account. A personal Instagram profile can't be connected

  3. The handle on file is right. Open your Dashboard and check the Instagram handle on your profile is the one you actually post from — spelled exactly, with no @

If all three are right and it still won't connect, message the Airbnb team from your Messages tab. Include your Instagram handle and what you're seeing on screen.

If you don't have a TikTok linked yet

If there's no TikTok account on your profile at all, message the Airbnb team from your Messages tab and give them the handle you want added. Nothing you post on TikTok can be matched to you until it's linked.

If you changed your handle

Your Hub needs your current handle, or new posts won't be matched to you.

TikTok — if a TikTok account is already linked, you can update the handle yourself:

  1. Find your TikTok handle in your Dashboard profile

  2. Tap the pencil beside it, enter the new username without the @, and save

Instagram usernames can't be edited from your Hub. Message the Airbnb team from your Messages tab with your old username and your new one, and they'll update it for you.

Do this before you post, not after. Anything published while your Hub still has the old handle may not be matched to you, and sorting that out afterwards is slower than updating it first.

Two errors you might hit when saving a TikTok handle: "not valid or not found" means the username doesn't match a TikTok account — check the spelling and drop the @. And if you already have posts under the old handle, the change can't be made automatically. Either way, if it won't save, message the Airbnb team from your Messages tab and they'll sort it.

Still missing?

If the right account is linked, the post follows the rules, and a day has passed, message the Airbnb team from your Messages tab — a post that's plainly published and still absent, an account that won't connect, an Instagram username to change, a TikTok account to add, anything needing a look at your account. Include a link to the post; it isn't something your Hub can work out for you.
