What is an Open Shift?
An open shift is a work opportunity available for all or some staff members. It means that anyone can apply. You can identify open shifts with an “open” tag. Once you apply for a shift, the admins from your agency will review your application and approve it if successful.
What is an Assigned shift?
An assigned shift refers to a specific type of work shift that an employer designates and assigns to particular individuals, rather than making it available to everyone. In contrast to an open shift, which is accessible for any eligible employee to claim, an assigned shift is specifically chosen for and offered to certain individuals.
You can typically recognize assigned shifts by the presence of an “Awaiting Confirmation” tag. Once you confirm your acceptance of the shift, its status will change to “Confirmed”.
What is a Confirmed Shift?
When a shift is available, the employee has the option to either “confirm” or “decline” the opportunity. “Confirmed” shift means that the employee is available and ready to work on this shift. To confirm a shift, simply click on “confirm”.
However, when you apply for an “open shift”, a request is sent to the employer and when the employer approves it, the shift becomes “Confirmed”.
