Overview

Custom exports let you build reusable export templates that pull exactly the product data, attributes, and media you need — in the format and structure that works for your workflow.

Creating a Custom Export Template

Getting There

  1. Click Settings in the left-hand sidebar

  2. Select ExportsCustom Export

  3. Click Create Custom Template in the bottom right corner

Step 1: Name Your Template

Give your template a descriptive name so it's easy to identify when exporting.

Step 2: Set Roles and Org Unit Visibility

Choose which roles and/or org units will have access to this export template. Only users with matching roles or org unit access will see it as an option when exporting.

Step 3: Add Core Data Fields

Select any or all of the following core product fields to include in the export:

  • Product Name

  • Additional Title

  • Additional Search Tags

  • Org Units

  • Parent Category

  • Primary Parent Category

  • Roles

Step 4: Add Attributes

Add any custom attributes that exist in your PXM instance and are available on products. These will appear as columns in your export.

Step 5: Add Media

You can include CDN links and/or file names for assets attached to your products. There are two distinct options — make sure you select the right one for your use case:

  • CDN Links — Select a link field such as Image Master File, Image Large JPEG, or Image Large PNG. This pulls the CDN link for all matching files on the product into the export.

  • File Names — If you want file names rather than links, you must specifically select a file name field. Options include:

    • File Name

    • Document File Name

    • Video File Name

    • Miscellaneous File Name

⚠️ Important: When adding any media fields (CDN links or file names), you must also set the roles and/or org unit visibility for those assets. This ensures the correct files are pulled through when the template is used.

Step 6: Output Format Options

You have the option to stack multiple media items into multiple rows. When enabled, the export adds a new row for every file associated with a product. This is how Shopify exports are typically structured.

Step 7: Save

Once configured, save your template. It will now be available as an option when exporting products.

Using a Custom Export Template

  1. Navigate to your products and select the ones you want to export

  2. Click Export Custom Template

  3. Select your custom export from the dropdown of available templates

  4. Choose your file format: XLSX or CSV

Your export will download with all the fields and media you configured in the template.
