It's easy to clear your cache and cookies in Microsoft Edge to help your browser run smoothly and maintain privacy. This process removes saved temporary files and small pieces of data websites use to remember you and your preferences.

Method 1: Using the Settings Menu (Recommended)

This method gives you full control over what data you delete and for what time period.

  1. Open Settings and More: In the top-right corner of the Edge browser, click the three dots (Settings and more) icon.

  2. Go to Settings: From the drop-down menu, select Settings.

  3. Navigate to Privacy: On the left sidebar, click on Privacy, search, and services.

  4. Find Clear Browsing Data: Scroll down to the Clear browsing data section and click the button that says Choose what to clear.

  5. Select Time Range and Data:

    • In the Time range drop-down menu, select the desired period (e.g., Last hour, Last 7 days, or All time).

    • Ensure the following boxes are checked:

      • Cookies and other site data

      • Cached images and files

    • Note: You can uncheck other options like Browsing history or Passwords if you wish to keep them.

  6. Clear the Data: Click the Clear now button.

Method 2: Using a Keyboard Shortcut (Quickest Way)

This is the fastest way to open the clear browsing data window.

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Del simultaneously.

  3. This will open the Clear browsing data window. Follow step 5 and step 6 from the Method 1 instructions above.

Tip: Clear Data Upon Closing the Browser

You can configure Edge to automatically clear certain data every time you close the browser:

  1. In Edge, go to Settings and more (three dots) > Settings.

  2. Go to Privacy, search, and services.

  3. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.

  4. Toggle the switches on for the data you want to delete automatically, such as Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. This is a great way to maintain security and performance without manual effort.
