Primary Role: Business Administrator (BA)
Focus: Apply

Where: Admin Portal - Group Management

🧭 Before You Start

  1. You must have Business Administrator access.

  2. Confirm the organization is configured as Work-First before making edits.
Tip: You will see the Work Folders tab in ANVL Manager if the org is Work-First.

  3. Workflow-First organizations display a single “Workflow First” Work Item Category, which should not be edited.

  4. Changes apply immediately and affect what end users see when creating or editing Work Folders.

  5. In the ANVL Admin Panel, these are called Work Item Categories; for end users (Mobile app, Workflows, and Insights), they appear as Categories in Work Folders.

  6. Before editing, review Understand Work Item Categories (Business Administrator) to understand applicability and impact.

🎯Why It Matters

  • Work Item Categories define how Work Folders are categorized by users

  • Categories impact:

    • Organization of work

    • Reporting and aggregation

  • Incorrect edits can confuse users or affect reporting

⏱️When to Do This

  • Adding new category options for Work Folders

  • Renaming existing categories

  • Removing categories that are no longer used

🛠️Steps: Edit Work Item Categories

  1. Open Group Management in the ANVL Admin Portal.

  2. Use filters or search to locate the Group to edit.

  3. Scroll right to the Work Item Categories column.
Tip: Re-arrange columns by dragging and dropping them into the desired order for easier editing.

  4. Click into the Work Item Categories column.

  5. In the popup window, you can:

    • Add a new category

      • Enter the Category Name

      • Select + Work Item Categories

    • Rename an existing category

      • Edit the category name directly

    • Delete a category

      • Remove the category from the list

  6. Select Save to apply the changes.

    1. If the small pop-up Save button appears, select it first.

    2. Then, select the larger Save button in the main editing window to apply the changes.

  7. Wait for the table to refresh and verify the change(s) were successful.

⚠️Watch Out For…

  • Workflow-First orgs should not edit Work Item Categories

  • Categories are Group-specific

  • There is no inheritance between Groups

  • Deleted categories cannot be restored automatically

✅What You Should See

  • Updated Work Item Categories saved for the Group

  • Categories available to end users when:

    • Creating a Work Folder in the mobile app

    • Creating or editing a Work Folder in Workflows or Insights
