Terminology Clarification

  • In the ANVL Admin Panel, these are called Work Item Categories

  • For end users (Mobile app, Workflows, and Insights), these appear as Categories when creating or editing Work Folders

Admin configuration controls the category options users see in Work Folders.

Why It Matters

  • Work Item Categories define how Work Folders are categorized by users

  • Categories impact:

    • Organization of work

    • Reporting and aggregation

  • Incorrect edits can confuse users or affect reporting

When to Do This

  • Adding new category options for Work Folders

  • Renaming existing categories

  • Removing categories that are no longer used

Preconditions

  • Your organization is configured as Work-First

  • Workflow-First organizations will display a single “Workflow First” Work Item Category
→ This should not be edited

Before editing Work Item Categories, review Work Item Categories (Work Folders) – Admin Overview to understand applicability and impact.

Steps: Edit Work Item Categories

  1. Open Group Management in the ANVL Admin Panel.

  2. Use filters or search to locate the Group to edit.

  3. Scroll right to the Work Item Categories column.
Tip: Re-arrange columns by dragging and dropping them into the desired order for easier editing.

  4. Click into the Work Item Categories column.

  5. In the popup window, you can:

    • Add a new category

      • Enter the Category Name

      • Select + Work Item Categories

    • Rename an existing category

      • Edit the category name directly

    • Delete a category

      • Remove the category from the list

  6. Select Save to apply the changes.

⚠️ Caution: Editing or Deleting Work Item Categories

  • Only edit Work Item Categories if your organization is Work-First

  • Changes apply immediately at the Group level

Watch Out For…

  • Workflow-First orgs should not edit Work Item Categories

  • Categories are Group-specific

  • There is no inheritance between Groups

  • Deleted categories cannot be restored automatically

What You Should See

  • Updated Work Item Categories saved for the Group

  • Categories available to end users when:

    • Creating a Work Folder in the mobile app

    • Creating or editing a Work Folder in Workflows or Insights
