Smart Reports let you build your own report – pick the data, filter it, choose the columns, and save it to re-run later. This guide builds one from scratch. To run a report you've already saved, see How to Run Smart and Static Reports.
Build a Smart Report
1. Go to Reports > Smart Reports.
2. On the Build Report tab, select the Smart Report type you want to build – Scholarship Details, Scholarship with Students, or Student Answers – then click Next.
The type sets the core data your report is built on; see the Reports Overview for what each one covers. (The fourth card, Static Reports, runs predefined reports instead – see How to Run Smart and Static Reports.)
3. Under Apply Filters, choose your Award Cycle. Any filters the type requires appear here automatically.
4. To narrow the data further, click Manage Filters. In the Filter Settings window, pick a filter from the Filter by dropdown and set its value. You can add several – each appears under Applied Filters on the right. Click Apply for each, and when you've added them all, click Save Filters.
5. Click Next.
6. In Customize Columns, you'll see a preview of your report. To change the columns, click Edit Columns (top right).
7. In Column Settings, expand a data section and check the fields you want – they appear under Selected Fields on the right (up to 100). Drag the six dots beside a field to reorder. Click Apply when you're done.
8. Finish one of two ways:
Download (icon, bottom left) to run the report once, or
Save Report to keep it as a reusable template. Enter a report name, choose Create a new report or Update existing report, and click Save.
9. To get the file, click the Download icon, then View Library to jump to the History tab – download it there once the status shows Complete.
