BananaThai Private 1-on-1 Lesson Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions ("Agreement") apply to all students enrolling in private 1-on-1 lessons with BananaThai. By registering for our lessons, you ("the student") agree to the terms outlined below. Please read this Agreement carefully before proceeding.
1. Trial Lesson
Trial Lesson Overview
BananaThai offers a 60-minute trial lesson, customized to the student's background, level, and goals. After the lesson, the BananaThai Teacher Team will recommend a suitable course.
To confirm the trial lesson, a payment of 500 baht must be made at least 2 days before the scheduled lesson. Upon receipt of payment, the student will receive a Zoom URL for the lesson via email.
Payment Policy for Trial Lesson
The cost of the trial lesson is 500 baht for 1 hour.
Payment must be made no later than 2 days prior to the trial lesson. Failure to pay within this timeframe will result in the forfeiture of the reserved time slot.
2. Private 1-on-1 Lesson Packages
BananaThai offers the following private 1-on-1 lesson packages via Zoom:
12-Hour Package: 12 credits to be used within 42 days (6 weeks).
25-Hour Package: 25 credits to be used within 90 days (3 months).
15-Hour Package: 15 credits to be used within 90 days (3 months), available for students enrolled in a self-paced course who wish to join weekly recap lessons.
50-Hour Package: 50 credits to be used within 180 days (6 months).
Package Details and Course Materials
Lessons are taught by the same teacher throughout the course, following a mutually agreed-upon schedule.
Students will receive course materials, including coursebooks, exercises, and flashcards, depending on their registered course.
An email thread will be created to facilitate communication between the student, teacher, and BananaThai Teacher Team (lesson@bananathaischool.com). Please ensure all parties are kept in copy for ongoing support and quality assurance.
Teachers will upload class notes to Google Drive and share them with the students upon request.
3. Attendance, Postponement, and Cancellation
Rescheduling Policy
Rescheduling by Students:
Students must notify the teacher and BananaThai at least 12 hours before the lesson to reschedule without losing credit. The number of reschedules permitted depends on the package:
25-Hour Package: Up to 4 classes may be rescheduled without losing a credit.
12-Hour Package: Up to 3 classes may be rescheduled without losing a credit.
15-Hour Package: Up to 3 classes may be rescheduled without losing a credit.
50-Hour Package Up to 8 classes may be rescheduled without losing a credit.
If an emergency prevents timely notification, students can reschedule without credit loss, but the missed class will count toward the total allowable rescheduled.
Students are responsible for scheduling makeup lessons within their credit term. For illnesses or accidents affecting the student or immediate family members, class credits will not be deducted if at least 6 hours' notice is given. Missed classes must be rescheduled within the credit term.
Rescheduling by Teachers:
If a teacher cannot attend a scheduled class, they must offer makeup options. If students are uncomfortable with the proposed schedule, the credit term will be extended by 7 days. In cases of multiple reschedulings due to unforeseen circumstances, the credit term may be extended by 7 days for 1-2 occurrences and 14 days for 3-4 occurrences.
Missed Class Policy
If a student does not join the class within 20 minutes of the scheduled time without notifying the teacher, the session will be marked as a no-show, and the class credit will be used. The teacher will leave the session after waiting for 20 minutes.
Daylight Savings and Schedule Adjustments
Changes due to daylight saving time will be based on the teacher's local time zone. Both parties must agree on any necessary schedule adjustments, with assistance from BananaThai if needed.
4. Credit Term Extension and Roll-Over Policies
Students anticipating potential scheduling interruptions may request a credit term extension of up to 1 week at the start of the package. Requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
If students cannot use all credits within the designated term, a maximum of 3 unused credits may roll over to the next package’s credit term.
5. Course Changes
Students wishing to change their course while keeping the same teacher and schedule must purchase a new package. Any remaining credits from the original package will be paused and may be used after completing the new package's credits.
6. Respect for Intellectual Property Rights
All learning materials provided by BananaThai are the intellectual property of BananaLingo PTE. LTD. Students are prohibited from reproducing, modifying, copying, or republishing these materials without prior written permission. Violations of intellectual property rights will result in legal action under intellectual property law.
7. Termination of Classes
If a student wishes to discontinue lessons with a specific teacher, they must notify the BananaThai Teacher Team to explore alternative solutions or teachers.
BananaThai reserves the right to terminate lessons if a student engages in inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to aggressive, threatening, or disrespectful language toward any member of the BananaThai staff or teaching team.
In cases of termination, there is no refund policy for unused package credits, although BananaThai will evaluate solutions on a case-by-case basis.
8. Payment Policy for Lesson Packages
Full payment for lesson packages must be made within 2 days to confirm the reserved time slot. Failure to make payment in this timeframe will result in the time slot being released to other students.
9. Force Majeure
In the event of unforeseen circumstances or emergencies, the credit term may be extended by 7 days for up to 2 occurrences and by 14 days for up to 4 occurrences.
10. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from this Agreement will be resolved under Singaporean jurisdiction.
By registering for BananaThai private 1-on-1 lessons, the student acknowledges they have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined in this document.
