A Task Template is just a checklist. It sits there doing nothing until an automation schedules it. If you have built templates and no tasks are appearing, this is almost always the missing step.

Go to Operations, then Configuration, then Task Automations, then Create Automation.

Reservation fires around check-in and check-out. This is the one most automations use: a departure clean on every check-out, an arrival inspection on every check-in. You can target same-day turns specifically, or schedule a set number of days or hours before the event rather than on it.

Listing Occupied and Listing Vacant fire after a property has been occupied or empty for a set period. These are useful for the jobs that depend on elapsed time rather than on a guest, such as checking on a home that has sat empty for a fortnight.

Repeating is a recurring schedule with no relationship to bookings at all: a monthly filter change, an annual gutter clean, a fortnightly reminder to pay the team.

Conditions narrow when the automation applies, using stay type, guest count or stay length. This is how you build a different routine for owner stays, or add an extra task for a large group.

Lookahead Days controls how far ahead tasks are created. Thirty to ninety days is the usual range. Set it too far out and your task list fills with work nobody can act on yet, which makes the whole page harder to use.

Applies To sets which listings the automation covers, and finally you attach the templates it should create.

Each automation in the list shows its name with a plain-English schedule line beneath it, such as "on all check-outs", plus its trigger type, how many templates it uses, and whether it is active.

That subtitle is the fastest way to audit what actually fires. You can read down the whole list and understand your automation set without opening a single one, which is worth doing periodically as the set grows.

Automations are the middle of three steps and they do not work in isolation:

Skip the third and your automation will faithfully create tasks that nobody is assigned to, which looks like a broken automation but is not one.
