When a parcel is misrouted, it quickly leads to unnecessary extra work in operations. Follow these steps to identify the root cause and resolve the issue.
Step 1: Check the Details on the Parcel
First, check the following two pieces of information directly on the parcel label:
The Address
Are the street, house number, postal code, and city written completely and correctly?
Background: The tour number and loading zone are determined based on this information, so any errors directly affect routing.
The Label Creation Date
When was the label printed?
Background: If changes are made to the tour plan after the label has been created, they will not be reflected on the printed label. This is rarely the issue, as parcels are checked for up-to-date tour numbers during inbound and outbound scanning at the depot and re-labeled if necessary.
Step 2: Compare the Address in Better Planner
If the information on the label is correct and up to date, check the geocoding in the system:
Open the "Search Address" function on the right edge of the map in Better Planner.
Enter the exact destination address.
Check the pin on the map:
This pin shows you the exact coordinates of the address.
Based on the displayed tour areas, you can immediately see which tour number and loading zone are assigned to this address.
1. Open the "Search Address" function on the right edge of the map in Better Planner.
2. Enter the exact destination address.
3. Check the pin on the map, it shows you the exact location and the tour area.
