Use Broadcasts to tell readers about important published schedule or map changes. Publishing alone does not send an email.
Prepare the update
Open Broadcasts and choose Send an update, or follow Send an update to readers after publishing.
Review What's changed since your last update and select the schedule or map news to include.
Check the To count and email preview.
Add an optional Message of up to 1,000 characters.
Use Send test to check the email at up to five addresses, entered one per line.
Choose Send now, or Schedule for later and confirm a future date and time in the event timezone.
The audience comes from readers marked Going and readers with event orders, subject to update preferences. Schedule and map updates on their own skip readers who have muted event update emails.
These are important event updates, not marketing or promotional messages. The composer shows the remaining daily allowance. Combine related news into one clear message when possible.
Understand scheduled emails
Scheduling an email saves the content you reviewed at that time. Later program edits do not rewrite that queued email. If its information is no longer correct, cancel the scheduled update and prepare another one.
This differs from a scheduled program release: the program release publishes the working schedule as it stands when release time arrives.
Check the update in Sent and scheduled to distinguish Scheduled, Sending and Sent. A queued message is not evidence that it has arrived in every reader's inbox.
FAQ
Why is there nothing to send?
Save and publish the schedule change first. A draft edit alone is not published news. Check whether the update was already sent or dismissed.
Can I leave a minor change out of the email?
You can dismiss news in Broadcasts and restore it later. Dismissing news does not undo the actual schedule or map change.
Can I cancel a scheduled email?
Use Cancel on the scheduled update and confirm. Canceling the email does not unpublish the schedule or maps.
Why does the reader count change if event date or location news is included?
Date and location changes also reach readers who muted event update emails. These changes must be sent now rather than scheduled. Check the displayed audience and explanation before sending.
