How to Check Out Parts

Learn how your technicians can check out parts on a job

Updated over a week ago

The Part Check Out feature in Boatyard Pro helps technicians confirm when parts have been removed from inventory and are now physically on the boat. This keeps your team aligned and ensures parts are accurately tracked across jobs and inventory.

When Can a Technician Check Out Parts?

Technicians can check out parts if:

  • The job is associated with a line item that has parts

  • The part is either in stock or reserved

Out-of-stock parts cannot be checked out.

How to Check Out Parts in Boatyard Pro

  1. The technician will open the Parts tab in the job view within Boatyard Pro.

  2. They will see a list of parts for the job. Any parts that are in stock or reserved can be selected.

  3. Next, they Select the parts they want to check out.

  4. And then tap the Check Out button at the bottom of the screen.

Once checked out, the part’s status updates to Checked Out in the job and inventory views. This lets your team know the part has been removed from stock and is on the boat.

Viewing Checked Out Parts

From the Part Inventory page:

  • Use the Checked Out section to see which jobs have parts checked out.

  • Expand the list to view job details and see what’s on the boat.

Returning a Part to Inventory

If a technician no longer needs a part:

  1. They can tap the Return to Inventory button.

  2. The part will move back into Reserved or In Stock status in the line item.

Tracking Part History

All part activity is logged in:

  • The Part Timeline (from the part record)

  • The Job Timeline (from the job record)

This helps your team track every movement of parts and maintain an accurate history.
